Good advicve, I'm picking mine up in a couple days (I hope) and I'll remember that.

Re: Dealer Pre-Delivery Inspection

And another point: One of my pet peeves is the cheap decal that dealers apply to the rear of the vehicle, especially if they also put their logo on the license plate frame. Tell them ahead of time that you do NOT want this on your paint job! They may balk about it, but it's your $40k+. And then go out and buy a suitable license plate frame!!!

I always specify no stickers. I don't have a problem with the license plate frames; if I want to replace them, I can, and without potentially damaging the finish. But no stickers or other emblems adhered to the vehicle.

In the past, it was only the domestic brand dealers around here that used those stickers or badges, now most everybody does in some fashion or another. It's annoying.

I know they usually detail and give a quick check but according to this dealer they are required to road test for 5 miles, then check all fluids, safety systems, lug nuts, etc. According to the dealer they do this the day before someone plans to take delivery and then detail and leave it locked in the shop overnight. They are probably somewhat blowing smoke to exaggerate all the "extra care and attention" they are providing, but was just curious if there is any standard for this out there. I have bought jeeps in the past walking onto the lot and inspection seemed to take as long as a standard time to wash and vacuum. Cars have usually been ready faster than I can finish paperwork. Of course this is a new dealer I have not dealt with before.
Out of curiosity, when did you order your new GC?

Re: Dealer Pre-Delivery Inspection

1- Mine arrived with 2 miles on it... they . did say they needed to check everything, & test drive, when it was delivered to me the next day it had 8 miles on it . AND although it came with 7.5 gallons from the factory(that's 0n the sticker with NO CHARGE noted) The dealer told ne, unsolicited, that it will be delivered with a full tank. 24.6 gallons worth!!. They did fill it.

I've heard of dealers.. various brands, only delivering vehicles with a couple of gallons of gas.

Re: Dealer Pre-Delivery Inspection

2 years ago when I bought my wife's car the dealer refused to fill the tank. The sales manager as extremely p'd off at me because I refused to close the deal over an additional $8 a month on my payment. The sales rep we dealt with took care of us and gave us a full tank though since we had to come back to pick up my other vehicle they held for ransom until I bought one off of them.

My Lincoln dealer put those stickers on the back of my car and I told them to take it off. I also took off the plate frame on the Lincoln and my Jeep when I got it. I just keep on forgetting to take it off of my Chevy

Re: Dealer Pre-Delivery Inspection

I hate the dealer ID stickers. I had to put one on every new and used car I sold. Be very careful about license plate frames. My cousin, Danny, is a MI state trooper. He told me in MI those frames are all illegal and reason enough to get pulled over. I called bs, then he showed me the code. Something about blocking the face of the plate. Not sure but I know he told me a lot of states have similar laws.

The laws do exist, but usually the dealers' frames managed to conform. In MO, there was a bit of time some years back when we changed plate designs and the old frames were not compatible with the new plates. The dealers ordered up new batches pronto.

Come to think of it, that was when the badges/stickers became more plentiful- maybe they were hedging their bets against it happening in the future.
