Re: Dealer Prep???

I specifically told the dealer to not do any prep. I have seen some pretty bad swirls and holograms from dealer "detailers". I would rather have an untouched canvas then have them mess it up and try to cover it up with a glaze.

I did the same thing when ordering my summit, they didn't put any type of wax on it at all. That way I was able to claybar, wash/wax myself with zaino

Re: Dealer Prep???

My dealer told me $1995, then put $2995 on the calculated total. Quickly changed it back to $1995 when I protested. Bastards!
I have yet to see if they do it properly as the car hasn't arrived.

Thanks,
My guess is it depends on the dealer and their work load. When I bought my Lincoln, I called the new car sale supervisor when I left my school and told him that I was on the way. By the time it took me to go from school to my house, to the dealer, and sign all of the paper work, about 2-2 1/2 hours lapse and my car was ready. When I picked up my Jeep, my Jeep was maybe about the 5th car that was on the waiting list to be prepped so it took them about 3-5 hours to get to it and get it all done. Too be fair, I bought my Jeep at the end of the month AND the dealership was busy with sales. In fact, while I was talking to the financing manager hammering down a payment plan, my salesman had someone in his office signing paper work.

I asked my dealer what the dealer delivery fee was for and they said to cover the cost of transport. $1495. But when we brought the wife's commodore in Kalgoorlie 600km from a city dealer delivery was $700.
Dealer delivery is an add-on for their profit.

F500 cant work out why yours is higher than mine, east coast I would think is less. But by the looks the drive-away price is the same, you have less taxes than WA, bumped up dealer delivery to make drive away price the same.

its all a ripoff but if we refuse it, it could bite us.
Oh your jeep broke, only if you had the dealer delivery done

Here in the States the transportation fee is addressed on the window sticker, and part of the total cost. Surely the dealer over there is just adding on what is not addressed separately within the sticker price.

Re: Dealer Prep???

I see your stickers posted around the forums.
In Oz they don't come with these stickers, is like secret dealers business here.

Re: Dealer Prep???

Think sales rep told me price included 8 gal. gas, but he filled it to the brim on delivery.

Got a pretty good price, on exactly the Jeep I wanted, so no other goodies.

Got the 1 year free Sirius and no dealer stickers on the vehicle.

Almost forgot mounted liscense plates and frames for FREE!

Actually a pretty good dealership experience.

Re: Dealer Prep???

Dealer prep for me was done at the recieving dealer, then mine picked the car up. Washed it for me before I picked it up, plus had a full tank of gas. The only quabbles were trim pieces that wife found out of place - the floor one I just pushed in myself, the pillar trim I popped into place, but still looked funny. I forgot about it until I noticed that it wasn't wonky looking anymore..either the dealer fixed it when it was in for the sunroof, or they replaced it. I had to run through a car wash a week later though...drove down a gravel/dirt road and got spray all over. I'll wash it properly when it warms up.

Re: Dealer Prep???

Dealer Prep? My Overland was delivered with an inoperative rear passeneger door lock and the rear tailgate lock/unlock button only worked occaisionally. The problem existed when I picked the vehicle up. The rear lock was a software issue and the tailgate assembly for the lock had to be replaced. All at another dealership. Dealer prep is all profit. They get away with it because all dealers charge it here in Ontario, Canada. Sure you can sell a vehicle at or below invoice if you pick up a few thousand to wash the car and push it out the door. My car was delivered about ten miles from the factory so forget about the shipping tarrif.
