Very valid point. To take it a step further, if the 2011 was to be a big change from the WK (which it was,) the simplicity of a flash should have made it to the launch of the 11' series. This sounds more than just a programming update.

Re: Dealer Rumor

To play devils advocate. Why didn't the 99 WJ's, which were also a large upgrade, not have the most optimized transmission programming on the 45RFE? It wasn't until 2000 that the flash came out. I dont think 2000 vehicles launched with the flash implemented. I'm sure there's a history behind the initial flash that I'm totally oblivious to.

For a non- tech guy, are you guys saying with the current 2011 5.7 in 2012 they might be able to flash the the transmission and it will have a 6th gear? If so, the purpose of the 6th gear is to increase gas mileage?

That's too bad. All this info comes right when I've finally found a matching WK2 with the options I've been looking for. Maybe I can convince them to hold it for a couple weeks until we find out exact pricing and specs.

I assume if ordering can happen soon, features and pricing will be available?

Ordering is set to open on June 8th. Firm pricing will not be released until mid-July. But I would definitely wait and order a 2012.

How do I resist what's sitting in front of me at the dealership!? It drives pretty nicely. Never having owned a V8 (all V6 up to this point), it seems to have more than adequate power for what I'm after ... mostly freeway driving I'll be doing daily with occasional utility towing.

On a serious note, I feel like I negotiated a pretty good price. Few concerns...

1. 2012 will have 6spd ... will the extra MPG gain be that much and worth the pain and torture of waiting?

2. If I wait to order, I feel like all my negotiating edge will be lost because it won't be something "on the lot" that the dealer is more motivated to sell. I'll just have to accept whatever the price is ... and it's likely to be higher than what's available now. How does this work with ordering?

Insights?
