That was last April. For almost $3K. If I never called FCA directly I wouldn't have known what happened for this "simple" mistake.

Getting screwed is them not telling me there was an existing 5 year warranty, cancelling it outright, then buying the 7 year.

This is one more level above, it's fraud. And people who get away with this kind of attitude and brush it off at a simple mistake is the reason why we have @&@& up people in this world.
Clarify something for us please...

If the vehicle was only 6 months old when you purchased it then all of the remaining factory warranties (3/36 basic bumper to bumper and the 5/100 powertrain) would be transferable to you as the next owner.

When you mention the 5/100 warranty are you referring to the original powertrain warranty or is this an extension to the 3/36 basic bumper to bumper factory warranty that the original owner purchased?

Not the 5/100 powertrain factory warranty which automatically transfers to the next owner.

It's an extension to the 3/36 Non-powertrain component warranty that the original owner purchased from dealer A, that dealer B that applied to transfer it to my name next.

They will probably give you the refund, but if they don't you can dispute the transaction with your credit card. Assuming you didn't pay in cash. Just ask the credit card company to reverse it and say it was the result of fraud.

Yes, thanks. I did tell the guy I spoke to that if I didn't hear from them at the end of the day (on Thursday) that I will contact my credit card company and initiate a charge back on it.

He did call me after an hour saying my story did check out and he is retrieving my paperwork to present to the GM on Monday (tomorrow) - not a holiday for us up North.

All throughout this conversation I was firm, but also apologetic to the person for bearing the grunt of my frustration and acknowledging to him that he was not the salesman of the extended warranty. He said he understood why I was frustrated and would be, too, if he was in the same situation.

I assume you have some sort of receipt from Dealer B that specifically says you paid for a 7yr?

^this. If you have it in writing, you should have no issues at all. If so, and you were in the states, I would suggest just calling the better business bureau. They get real serious about "bait and switch" and no business wants a bad rating from the BBB. I don't know if Canada has something similar or not....

Yes I have their paperwork and their receipt of the specific contract application for a 7yr extended.

Canada does have a BBB. I will use all avenues including local reporting news if they fail to refund.

Don't want to bad mouth them right now and will give them a chance to come clean today. Depends on the outcome, then the gloves come off. But it's not the North Van dealer.

Understandable... if it comes out my guesses are Langley or Coquitlam...

Re: DEALER tried to do one on me on Extended Warranty

Just an update got a call back this afternoon to say they are processing the refund back to my card. It's on voicemail so I have further proof.

It had to take up to the senior GM to authorize the refund. And with that no apology on the "mistake".

It's okay. Lesson learned.
