Decisions.

Hello all.

For almost a year now we've had our 2014 Laredo. Has been an exceptional vehicle. Perfect for long and short drives.

I've owned several Jeeps over the years. This is my 1st jeep without a low range setting. There has only been 1 time in the past year that I would have liked to have had the capability of 4lo.

Prior to the Laredo we had a 2044 Trailhawk. This was an early model that had serious transmission issues. Really liked the platform. Reliability was the issue. That's how we ended up in the Laredo.

I can get a well optioned 2015 Cherokee Trailhawk Model for around $35,000. It will have the v-6 and the rear locking differential.

Should I go in this direction? Help me decide.

Flux capacitor optioned? Sorry I had to do it.. lol

Before getting my 14 Summit at the end of November I also had thoughts of trading my WK2 for a loaded Cherokee Trailhawk. As nice as that Jeep is, I could not go ahead and do it. I knew I would miss the size of the GC and overall ride.

Obviously you do what is best for you and you have to make that call. In my case I just couldn't do it. I even gave my wife the chance to pick what we should do and she picked the GC. But I am lucky with her cause she said go all out with the Summit hehe

Then again if you do end up with the Cherokee I think you will be OK. It's still a very nice Jeep. I would get one for my wife but she isn't too much into it.

No one can tell you what is right for you, but you.

IMO you are better off in the GC, but that's just me.

The more electronics, the more troubles. Don't ask me how I know. 7 service calls in first 7 weeks of ownership.

Re: Decisions.

There are advantages to having the lightest GC with towing package.

Re: Decisions.

Heck no! My 14' Limited was $38k OTD, with the only option being the 8.4A radio. What more do you need? The Cherokee is smaller and IMO, is UGLY.

Get a Limited/Overland, you'll probably be a lot happier. I thought about a laredo, but the second I found out it was cloth only and no 4l, I said nope, no way. Also, I just built one on Jeep's website for $36k, and it appears that to have the cold weather package, you can't have the leather seats!?

Re: Decisions.

This is timely...I have my Summit in for some maintenance and my rental/loaner happens to be a nearly brand new Cherokee Latitude--which I've been putting through its paces just for fun. While I'm impressed with the Cherokee in many ways, it's certainly not a JGC. I suspect that holds true for the TrailHawk version, too. They are completely different vehicles in a wide variety of ways, not just size. I'm not saying the Cherokee isn't capable; it's just not at the same level as the JGC.

I agree with the others to go up trim level on the JGC and enjoy it!

Re: Decisions.

I took all the cherokees models for a test. Blackhawk had good options with more serious diffs that seemed to upset the auto...always searching for a gear. Optioned up the BH Cherokee petrol cost the same as a 3 litre diesel GC. With that extra room I got the GC Sept 14. After some teething issues with the computer its going very well with with great performance, same 0 to 100 k as v8, and 1000 ks a tank. Paul
