Hey all,

I know this might be a repeat, but i could not find the information on the forum about this (I'm new to all this). So here is the question. What should i be looking for when i inspect my Jeep Grand Cherokee before i sign the paperwork. For example, I'm going to be looking for dents and scratches on the exterior and stains on the leather. What else should i be looking for? Any answer is greatly appreciated.

I would look for

- dents/scratches
- check the bumpers (front/rear) make sure they fit nice and tight
- check the plastic in the wheel wells, make sure its tight
- make sure nothing feels loose or janky on the interior
- make sure everything fits together as it should (no large gaps)
- make sure turn signals work
- crank the stereo
- if you have nav, make sure the nav works
- if you have satellite radio, make sure it works
- make sure your seat functions work
- if you have leather make sure there are no holes or scratches
- make sure the windshield wipers are in perfect condition
- make sure it has all the things you ordered it with

When/If you find anything, dont be a dick, just point them out and they should be more than happy to make it right.

You can spend a lot of time checking out the entire vehicle instead of driving it away, but the better plan is to just check things that you can't be blamed for if you bring it in a couple of days later. Scratches and interior tears in the seats, carpet and headliner would be my first concern. Anything else would be a defect covered by warranty without any suspicion you. So make a quick inspection, drive your Jeep home, and enjoy it. :)

Yeah its a new car I dont think you need to go too overboard like the guy above said to do. I mean its a new car and generally all those things are inspected prior to it leaving the factory. Im pretty anal myself and didnt do anything out of the ordinary when I took delivery of my 12 Overland. I mean really? make sure the windshield wipers are in perfect condition? lol
All joking aside, what 77Cherokee said above is a great idea. Do a quick walk around and you want to find any possible damage such as paint defects, dings, scratches (interior, exterior, wheels etc etc). Then take it for a nice drive and enjoy it!

Congrats on the purchase and enjoy!

Thank you all for your input. Just took delivery of my 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited and it looks great. There was some dirt on the Visor and the panoramic sunroof cloth and they said that they will give me a free detailing when i get back from school in the winter which really works out since it will clean off all the salt from my Jeep.
