Delivery Checklist

I think this may have been covered slightly in one of the other longer threads, but I can't seem to find it. Since I plan to (hope to) take delivery later this week or early next week, is there a checklist of things to look for while at the dealer? The only things I remember are to check the rear liftgate/bumper gap on each side (thanks Chevy) and to take it for a spin and check the buzzing sound or rattle. I think it was MajorTom who posted the case number on that one, correct me if I'm wrong.

Any other advice of what to look for? Or directions to a thread with a list already there? I tried the search function but was only coming up with stuff from 2012.

I just got the call from my dealer and my 2014 JGC Limited is in. I will be picking it up tomorrow. The forecast here in New York is for rain for the next week. I told the dealer I wanted to inspect it carefully and not in the rain. He said he will have it inside for me. Do you think this is ok? I really don't want to wait for the next sunny day. Do you think it will matter that much? It is white and I know some of the other darker colors really shine and almost change color in the sun.

When I got my 2012 I missed out of alignment door panels and bad and/or poorly balance tires. When I got my 2013 I checked for all these things and the vehicle drive quality is so significantly better it really demonstrates how variable the delivery can be. The body seams responsible for most of the problem on my 2012 were at where the front doors met the roof line, the gasket in that area was not compressing and air would enter while driving. Best advise is to make sure take the actual vehicle out for an extended test drive.

Are you now going for the 2014?

One item I would add to the checklist is the verify your tire pressures. Each of my tires were inflated to 43psi cold (max rating is 44psi cold). Only found out by scrolling through the EVIC. Double checked with my tire gauge and it verified that the tires were overpressurized.

The door label for the 18" tires suggests 33psi cold all around. I adjusted the pressures so they are fine now.

I am certain that the vehicles are shipped with overpressure to minimize movement from springiness in the tires...dealer just missed this one I guess. Regardless, I don't think you want to be rolling with that much pressure in the tires...might be a bit noisier and a few more bumps!!

From the other topic on this:

What to look for on your new 2014 - Most everything I had for problems have been resolved or are in the process of being resolved.

Check out the Uconnect system - Registration, Memory of settings, Pairing of phone etc. If it all fails, contact Uconnect and open a ticket. In my case, they reloaded the headunit - Still can't get my Iphone 5 to work. (Next rev of Uconnect software should resolve)

Walk around and pay careful attention to the following -

Front headlights - Condensation - Won't know if it comes back until I wash it again.

Rear Tail light drivers side - Seal broken, water inside (Dealer Replaced)

Rear Drivers side Fender Flare - Not lined up with molding buldging out (Dealer ordered color matched Flare)

Fender Wheelwells - Look for missing plastic rivets or rivets that are popped out (Dealer installed missing rivets)

Rear tailgate alighment, shifts more to the right - Body shopped adjusted

Window seal passenger rear window, apparently cut when it was installed (dealer ordering new seal)

Hoping none of you have these for problems, my build date was March, hoping they realize they have QC issues.

Picked her up tonight... Didn't notice anything messed up until I got home. The back drivers side door is misaligned... Kind of a bummer. The passenger side both doors are flush. I'll post some pics soon.

I was looking over my new summit today and noticed some slight misalignment...can't wait to see pictures of yours to compare

I tried to get a picture but my phone camera sucks. The ambient interior lighting doesn't work on that door either. Here's the best I can do on the misaligned door tonight with my phone..

Vehicle door Hand Sky Room Electronic device

Wow, that is noticeable. My driver door sticks out a bit. Passenger side is perfect

Does the ambient lighting on the misaligned door work for you guys? Mine doesn't. Passenger side is barely off, not even really noticeable. Drivers side I can't stop noticing now.

How was your Overland when you picked it up? Any issues that day, or since you've owned the Jeep? Would love to see pic if you have any. Thanks!

Good luck! Don't be embarrassed. I think you would be crazy to not spend time looking over everything. Better to check everything over before leaving the lot. I think the service manager thought I was too much of a perfectionist but when you are spending 47k it better be perfect...

Supposed to pick up my new '14 limited v6 with ora2, ra4 and sunroof on Tuesday.

Anything I should add to the list?

Going to send an email to salesman about having all ground wires checked and tightened and have all possible updates and tsb's done as well.

Thanks in advance.

What do you do if there is mis-alingment in doors or panels? Is it something dealer can fix? Do you reject the vehicle?
H
I hope to take delivery next week.
Thanks!!!

Can't help you on the doors or panels since mine were fine. But my center console was mis-aligmened (the one below the volume controls which has the USB and SD slots). Check the spacing at the bottom..mine had no gap on one side and a huge gap on the other.

Thought I would share with some of the latest since I just picked my 2014 Limited up last week. There was only a few issues I noticed with mine.

1. Passenger door was not aligned properly sticks out about a 1/4in, this is going to the body shop to fix.

2. Lifting the hood, on the drivers side new the window where the plastic is supposed to go under the roll in
the body it was on the outside, making it stick out when the hood is closed.

3. Not sure if this one is an issue since I checked out a few more on the lot showing the same, the liftgate handle does not sit flush against the body running your hand over it there is a clear gap like it is popped out on the left side.
