Re: Delivery Checklist

Have another potential inspection point.

Was doing some late night reading and saw comments on the draining for the sunroof getting into the battery location.

Also check the wheel arch liners.
There are a series of plastic rivets that secure the wheel arch liners to the fenders and bumper.
Found a few of mine hadn't been installed correctly.

Re: Delivery Checklist

At this pace, a few more posts and people will be advocating to just take the whole car apart down to the last screw and then reassemble to make sure everything works

This is getting kind of ridiculous...

I'm attaching pictures of the rear tail lights on my new Summit. Note the alignment is incorrect on the right-hand side (passenger). This is not a tailgate issue, which is correctly aligned all-around, but rather a mounting issue of the right-hand tail light. I popped the housing off to see if there was adjustment available, but there isn't. The mounting holes have been drilled at the wrong place in the body. Both the dealer and Chrysler have stated that this is "normal" (their word not mine), citing that they've compared it to other vehicles and many of them are like this. As you can see from the pictures, this is anything but "normal". It seems the jig the production line used to make these mounting holes has been out of alignment, and short of welding over and drilling new holes into the body, there would seem to be no easy way to correct this. In lieu of an easy practical fix; it's one thing that Chrysler would not seem to be willing to discuss compensation (it has that prerogative if that's how it chooses to manage customer relations). It's another thing however for Chrysler to claim this is not an error, or problem with their process, and in doing so alienate a customer who has invested in the the Jeep brand. I'd be happier be told 'yea we made a mistake, but we really don't have any facility to compensate you for this issue', than to be treated like I'm an idiot. First time Jeep owner; 50k out the door and so far not very impressed with the folks at HQ. I'm posting here so folks can keep a look out for this issue as they take receipt. You never know, if enough of us complain, then maybe they'll pull their head out of the sand, sort out the problem, and do the right thing by their paying customers.

Re: Delivery Checklist

The pics don't lie, doozer. My wife and I were looking over GCs at a dealer, especially a squeaky clean GC parked just outside the door into the showroom. I was checking the liftgate and rear taillight gaps closely when a gentleman walked up to me and said "I'm about to take delivery on this one, so if you see something that's not right be sure to let me know."

The taillights looked exactly like your pictures above, so I pointed this out to him and he immediately grabbed his salesman and the GC quickly disappeared into the service department. We had to leave before the GC emerged again but, if what you've written above about the lack of adjustment is true, it isn't clear what they could have done about it.

Re: Delivery Checklist

It's little things like this (unfortunately a LOT of things) that drive me crazy. Along with the dealers not wanting to work things out.
My gate and tail lights don't look that good. Reminds me of a situation I had with the tail pipes being out of line. Took it in twice for other issues and they said nothing could be done and it was like others on the lot. I stopped at muffler shop and in ten minutes they adjusted a hanger bracket. Hope nothing major goes wrong or I'll be in trouble.

The problem is it doesn't seem to be an isolated thing it spans across dealers allover the country. This is my first Chrysler product guess I am being educated on the way they operate. don't mind the details gettem out the door! lol

My Summit has the exact same alignment, which tells me that this is normal. Whether this is right or wrong I won't argue. I know when I was looking at buying a Audi before I decided to get a Jeep. Everyone complained about how crappy the brakes are but just consider it a necessary evil. I would rather deal with a slightly mis-alligned tail light than horrible brakes. If the tail lights bother me to much I will just take it to a body shop to be corrected.

Picked up our Overland this past Thursday. The right tail-lamp is aligned just right, with gap matching the one on the left. However, the section of the left tail-lamp in the liftgate is about 1/8" lower than the section on the fender panel. Maybe it's "normal" that something has to be out of alignment on the liftgate.

Re: Delivery Checklist

picked up my GC last weekend. I went over everything I could remember from this thread, and I only noticed one issue. The tailgate handle.

they said they would look into changing it for me. A few days later the salesman emailed me asking for pictures of it. I havent heard anything yet, but I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt. If they clearly say they wont fix it then I will call Chrysler.
Does the STAR case # for this issue work with Chrysler Canada (S1323000043), or is that number only good in the US?

Delivery Checklist

I'm just not understanding why everyone is just excepting this tailgate problem as normal. I just cannot believe everyone is just excepting this problem as normal there fore it does not have to be corrected. I hope when the Diesels get released this normal will have been corrected. I would not take delivery of a vehicle that had a problem such as this.

Now the problem on the line with the mismatch speaker rings I can understand; the guy on the line installing them was color blind. LOL It's really looking bad for the purchase of the Summit. I've already stopped myself from ordering once; we'll see. I would hate to have to stand by the dealer with a picket sign saying " check your vehicle for noticeable defects before purchasing". LOL
