I would not take delivery of a vehicle that had a problem such as this.

Now the problem on the line with the mismatch speaker rings I can understand; the guy on the line installing them was color blind. LOL It's really looking bad for the purchase of the Summit. I've already stopped myself from ordering once; we'll see. I would hate to have to stand by the dealer with a picket sign saying " check your vehicle for noticeable defects before purchasing". LOL
Honestly I think most but maybe not all of the big bugs have been worked out and if I were ordering now I would feel reasonably comfortable doing that. Not saying you will be problem free who knows CRDs could have there own set of problems but for the most part a lot of the early build issues have improved. I am a March build and if I had it to do over again I would have waited until September mainly because of the stop go feature but over all I am happy with my Jeep. At this point I would just order there is never really the perfect time just have to jump in.

Re: Delivery Checklist

I went to pick up my new SRT GC and ended up not taking it due to the hood was way out of alignment. The Hood was almost touching the fender on the drivers side and the gap on the other side was 5/16". The fuel door gap was terrible as well. The paint was chipped just below the headlight on the bumper. I just don't see how this can pass quality control I mean this is a 72,000.00 truck come on!! They have another one comoing in on Wednesday hope this one is better or I will have to give up on Jeep. They had 2 other SRT's in stock one was perfect the other was not very good as well. Ijust don't understand how they can be that inconsistant. I guess I will know Wednesday I am just not to confident.

How was your Overland when you picked it up? Any issues that day, or since you've owned the Jeep? Would love to see pic if you have any. Thanks!

Does anyone have pics of the tailgate problem? I not quite sure exactly what the problem is... Pics would definitely help...Thanks!

Re: Delivery Checklist

Long time stalker...first time poster.

Let me tell you about my experience....that just occurred about 3 hours ago. Went to pick up my long awaited white 2014 JGC Altitude.

We arrived early so we could look it over before going inside to sign anything. Couldn't find it and when we went in the sales guy said it was getting washed and having the NAV installed. Both the wife and I were completely pumped. We ended up doing the paperwork while they were prepping the thing and just as we finished up with the paperwork the vehicle showed up outside the window of the office we were in.

When we went out to finally see our new Jeep we noticed the driver's side mirror wouldn't adjust correctly then we noticed the back side of the mirror had a big piece of plastic missing. You could tell it was hit and the impact tried to force it to fold the opposite way from which it is supposed to go. Talk about the air going out of your sails....then we looked it over more and found a finger tip sized paint chip missing from the front bumper. The vehicle is white so the black bumper underneath the paint showed up real well. By then the sales guy was coming out to deliver it and I told him what we found. He said they could fix the mirror which I could have lived with. There was no other choice but to send it to a body shop and paint the bumper and I wasn't about to pay this much money for a vehicle that had to go to the body shop to be painted before I drove it home.

I went back inside, got my down payment check, and told them I couldn't accept the vehicle. Five minutes down the road they called me to tell me they found 2 more out back they didn't know that had just like the one I tried to buy. Talk a bout fishy......

Anyway...sorry for the long post but moral of the story....DO THE INSPECTION BEFORE SIGNING THE PAPERS....EVEN IF YOU HAVE TO WAIT LONGER THAN PLANNED because they are washing it or whatever. The sales manager didn't give me a hard time about not accepting the vehicle, and I appreciated that...but he could have. They were good throughout the whole evening, and I may go back because of it, but it could have been worse.

Dang, that's crazy!!! Do you think the dealer tried to hustle to drive off the lot with one they already had? Did you wind up getting one, or did you just walk away completely? That's suck you had to go through that...Thanks for sharing, this was definitely helpful.

Re: Delivery Checklist

I am not sure if they tried to hustle me or not (meaning they knew about the damage and hoped I wouldn't notice). I don't think so but there is something fishy about how the whole thing developed. The thing that may save them in my mind and will likely lead me back there is they didn't pressure me into taking the vehicle at all. Technically I had purchased the vehicle and they had my money...they could have tried to make things hard on me. They also accepted full responsibility for not doing a thorough review before me.

The concern that is gaining momentum in the back of my mind is all the issues people have on this site with brand new jeeps the day of and the days/weeks that follow them picking it up brand new. Is that normal or average for Chevy, GMC, Ford, etc? Do they have message boards where folks talk about misaligned doors and lights and interior items and....? I know I have to keep in perspective people are more inclined to log on and write about a bad experience compared to those with normal or great experiences. It's just hard after reading about so many issues to keep the fire burning about getting a new Jeep. I'm keeping the faith but dang....

Yes. All makes have their issues, and their complaint-filled forums. I'm not sure how many issues JGC has relative to others though.

Ugh, tell me about it! I fell in love when I test drove the Jeep and just had to have one...I should be getting mine in a few weeks and all these complaints/problems are really upsetting. I really hope everything is ok...I NEED a reliable car! I also cannot believe Chrylser doesn't give out loaner cars (for the most part).

That's one thing I absolutely LOVE about BMW. I have a MINI currently, and it's been to the dealer one time for a warranty recall. I used to work there as well, anything that was warranty related, the person always got a brand new loaner car, no questions asked. They actually had to order the part for my car and I was in a brand new MINI for about 2 weeks, which was 100% free (minus gas of course). It was either the Jeep or a BMW X1...

Hrmmm, hope I made the right decision!

Re: Delivery Checklist

With Benz and BMW they can afford to give you a brand new car, that rental is absorbed by the extra money you pay for your car brand new with their high pricing.
