Design flaws?

I've had my WK2 for over a year now and I've lost count now how many times I've went to hit EITHER the rear wiper control or the front mist control on turn signal stalk and accidently flashed my high beams at traffic in front of me. What other things do you think they could have done better?

Re: Design flaws?

That's never been an issue for me at all. Can't say I think it's a flaw.

If you want a list of design flaws, there's a pretty comprehensive list of TSBs out there... that's a good place to start.

Re: Design flaws?

When I turn on my headlights the brights are on. I always have to turn them off.

I remote started it the other day and the Air Conditioner was on, the heated seats were on, and the heated steering wheel was on. Could be user error though.

730N RHR won't play my iPod Nano 2nd Gen, but newer Ipods and Iphones work fine. Jeep.com shows that the 730N RHR is compatible with good sound quality and playback via USB with radio controls for iPod 2nd Gen Nano, buy my 730N RHR doesn't recognize it.

On the Laredo, if you leave the air direction to either the mix of Floor/Defrost or on Defrost the AC compressor is engaged when you remote start. I think this is intentional to help "defog" the windows.

All the other cars I have owned turn on the AC compressor when you were on defrost modes to remove moisture from the car interior.

Re: Design flaws?

I don't have the remote start feature but I have noticed that the AC does come on if I have used the defroster previously..not a fan of it. I just find that the mechanism to turn the rear wiper is unusually hard to turn without accidently turning on the high beams. I've also wondered why there isn't bottom screw mounts for the rear license plate. Every time I close the rear gate, my license plate and frame flaps around. Never seen that on a car before. Wonder what design engineer thought just having the top screw mounts would be sufficient.

Re: Design flaws?

Plenty of cars only have top screw mounts. Get a nice license plate frame made of sturdy metal and it will solve the issue.

Re: Design flaws?

I got this and I don't put anything in the lower two screw holes except the black plastic caps to hide the holes: http://www.weathertech.com/store/mvp...=324&Year=2011 expensive though: $24.95 for one.

I don't notice any rattling at any time with it. Love it!

Here's a pic:

When you remote start and it's cold outside, heated steering wheel and seats will turn on. Same with when it's hot as cooled seats will turn on (If equipped). It's not a flaw.

Was the defroster on? A/C compressors run when defrosters are on.

Re: Design flaws?

Another question, does anyone know how to turn off the rear seat vents? (the ones coming from bottom of center console? (2011 laredo). Far as i've seen you can only move them up/down & left/right but I have been unable to find any open/close lever or knob.
