Did I make a mistake ordering a 2012?

I'm new to this site but in the last week have been reading and getting some tips and good info.
Well, yesterday I broke down and ordered up a New 2012 GC Overland, in Brilliant Black, with New Saddle/Black interior.
(the pics on this site also helped me choose the colours) ;)
My biggest debate was choosing the V8 over the V6. I wanted the good gas mileage, but was concerned about pulling, etc.
And I noticed that the Quadra-Drive II came with the off-road pkg, AND the V8.

Okay, so in that case, I ordered the V8.
Then late last night I was reading a bunch more posts and found out that they have discontinued the ELSD, and in effect I will only be getting Quadra-Track II. :( Some guys here have cancelled their 2012 orders, and getting 2011's instead.

So my question, again, is have I made a mistake to order the 2012?
My off-road use is going to be very limited. However where we live (southern Ontario), I have to climb winding snow covered roads so AWD is my biggest priority.
Would the QD II have helped on-road? or is really just for off-road?

I want to feel good about my decision to buy the GC Overland, but right now, I'm not so sure.

The ELSD comes with the V8 AND the ORAII package. If you ordered the ORAII package then you are fine. It no longer comes with just the V8 like it did in the 2011 model year

Southern Ontario? I used to live in Sudbury....cant tell you how much i prefer the weather in San Diego!!

What overlandguy said is correct, ELSD is NOT discontinued. You just have to have ordered a 4x4 v8 overland and one of the following options: Summit or ORAII.

I just picked up my ORAII equipped Overland, and both the build sheet and the display screen confirm i have qdII (which has the elsd).

Well if you got the V6 you wouldn't be able to get the QDII. If you are worried about snow driving the QTII will be more than capable. Might as well get the V8 the V6 really isn't that much more fuel efficient unless you just do not need the power or towing abilities.

While I DID order the V8, I didn't order the Off-road package, and mostly because I wanted the 20" polished Alum wheels. I guess I could have used the 18" wheels for my winter wheels, and bought the 20" Jeep wheels. But it seemed like a lot of work just to get the Quadra-Drive II.

Believe it or not, the Summit is not offered in Canada.
I prefer the colour of the wood trim and steering wheel in the Overland anyway.
I also prefer the Overland grille over the Summit grille. Just me.

I'm sure the on-road capability of the Quadra-Trak II will be fine, in the winter.
I am just curious why they offered it with the V8 in 2011, but not in 2012.

I think you've already said it yourself. If you can find a late build 2011 that meets your specs, grab one up. You'll definitely save money that way. If you still want a 2012, you'll need to add ORAG II and then buy the 20" Jeep wheels later. If it were me, I'd snatch up a 2011 if you can find one that meets your specs.

Thanks guys. :)
I'll talk to my dealer and get him to search on a 2011 with everything I want
and see if there is one to be had.

I guess only the "powers-that-be" at Corporate know why they made the ELSD available only with the ORA II package this year, as opposed to last year when it also came with the V8.

Canadian Configurations for Overlands is different than American versions. It appears that by ordering a V8 Overland in Canada you do get QDII and and the electronic differential. I pick up my 2012 Overland tomorrow and according to the build sheet from Milous, my vehicle has these options.

The lack of 2012 information doesn't help. CarCost has the information on their service and it shows QDII and ELSD as part of the V8 Overland Pkg.

I picked up my Canadian Overland V8 yesterday. It does have QDII and ELSD. The QDII shows in the EVIC. I'll post pictures and opinions when I have some dry weather and time.
