Dinged :(

Today I discovered a sizable ding on my WK2's rear passenger door. I'm not sure how it got there but there it was. It's so upsetting to even see this, it's not even a year old. The ding is a scratch about and inch and a half long with a slight dent.

Has anyone ever brought this type of damage to their insurance company to have repaired? I wonder how much would this type of damage cost to fix up.. Ugh worst day is today.

IS the paint scratched? pas tthe color coat. If not have it PDR's (paintless dent repair.) These guys work wonders and it shoudl be a couple of hundred bucks tops. Will depend on where you live.

Re: Dinged :(

I try to rub out the scratch mark and it looks like it went through the paint. If they need to paint that area with matching paint, would it cost significantly more?

Re: Dinged :(

Insurance wont help you in this case. Not only is it not worth making a claim for the simple fact that youll have a claim on your record. But also, itll probably cost less than your deductable to repair. Usually 350-400 for a small dent and refinish on one panel, assuming its in the middle of the panel and dont have to blend out into adjacent panels. A typical deductable is 500 bucks so not even worth calling your insurance

Re: Dinged :(

The dent, if I recall, is at the point when the metal of the door bends slight outward. It just affects the door panel, thankfully. I may have to go to a repair shop now for a quote. For some reason I thought the repair would cost more than an insurance deductible. Thank you all for your thought on repair. Please keep them coming. They are very helpful!

If anyone has a recommendation on a repair shop in NYC, Queens please pass that along. I need to find one near where I live that does a great job and not shady.

Re: Dinged :(

My neighbor just spent $410 for a 5 inch gash in the 1/4 panel of a 2010 Silverado. I think the extra $10 was for the stone guard.

Re: Dinged :(

That's a pricey 5" gash, yikes. Where do you live? If you're in the NYC area the price your friend spent might be around what I may spend.
