Dings on the hood from acorns

Anyone had dents removed from hood? I have read that aluminum is more difficult that steel for paintless dent work. I have like 4 or 5 that I need done.

Re: Dings on the hood from acorns

I personalliy have not had it done but I went with my father last night to help him look at a 2011 WK2 70th anniversary and it had about 5-6 small dimples and the dealer said they will have them rolled out. I will let you know how it turns out.

Re: Dings on the hood from acorns

I haven't had this kind of thing on my JGC, but did on my previous Highlander Hybrid Limited...'had them removed when the vehicle was being repaired for another issue. But that was a steel hood. I would hope that they could be pulled out in a similar way on the aluminum material and will be interested with other comments that come in here on this subject. Walnuts on this property!

Re: Dings on the hood from acorns

What I have found in my research so far Jim is that steel has memory so will tend to go back to the original shape and aluminum does not. So what I got from that was, when I was younger I was like steel and now trending heavily toward aluminum.

I had a small dent on my aluminum hood when I had a charger and it came out perfect. Just make sure you get assurances by the pdr tech before proceeding.

Are you sure they weren't Buckeyes? If they were - then no - they can never be removed... once they have entered your world .. they can Never be removed.

Re: Dings on the hood from acorns

I just contacted at PDR place for the same issue. He said he can work on aluminum. From what I have read it's harder to do since the aluminum doesn't have memory and doesn't just pop back into place.

Re: Dings on the hood from acorns

My 2014 got nailed by hail a while back, insurance paid for a new hood but I went pdr, it turned out great, just some very minor work marks are visible from the larger dents. I do have some tool marks on the underside of the hood where they worked though.

How big are the friggen' acorns where you guys live? Seriously, I can't imagine an acorn actually dented the hood. That's never happened to me with any car I've owned and I certainly hope it doesn't happen to my Jeep.
