Disabling 2014 Overland alarm... while locked

Hello,

I hope I am not asking a question that is dumb, but I've keyword searched this forum, and checked the Uconnect & JGC owners manual.

There are times (i.e., when camping) where I would like to lock the doors but disable the alarm. If I am reading correctly, the current options on Uconnect settings do not allow for this scenario. This seems strange as I can envision many scenarios where a locked car with alarm disabled would be useful, but perhaps I am alone in this thought.

Does anyone know if this is possible?

Re: Disabling 2014 Overland alarm... while locked

I have never given the alarm a second thought. If it activated automatically when I lock the car, it is automatically deactivated when I unlock it.

When I lock it I use the button on the outside of the door. I wonder if it would be different if you hit the manual lock button before closing the door?

When would you want it locked with no alarm?

I'd be interested in the answer to that also.

Re: Disabling 2014 Overland alarm... while locked

...and for God's sake when out camping/ at a campground use the door lock button on the door ( I'm assuming it doesn't honk the horn on a '14 or Uconnect select and probably doesn't arm the alarm???- don't have a WK2 yet) , because I just spent two nights camping in the Smoky Mountains and every 10 minutes a horn honked when somebody locked theirs doors.......and it affected my smores

If all you want to do is NOT have the horn sound when the doors lock I believe page 322 of the Owners Manual will help - programmable feature (Uconnect now, was under EVIC before).

Hopefully this will do what you want.

That can't be it. Who would ask without first taking the time to read the owner's manual.

Idk if there is a horn fuse, but if there is, pull it out.

Re: Disabling 2014 Overland alarm... while locked

My apologies to Craig in CO for highjacking his thread, as this has turned into a "horn on locking thread" of which I know of the Uconnect selection.

As for the original question, I would think that the door lock on the actual door, locks the door without the alarm being set.

I think the first clue was "page 322 of the manual".

Page 322?

Maybe the book would be shorter and more readable if they didn't fill it with so much fluff and BS such as "don't suck on the tailpipe while running" safety messages.
