Discovered a new issue -- defroster temp control
Discovered this just yesterday, with the cold temps here in New York I got in my Jeep and turned on the front defroster. The climate control temp was set to 68 degrees (both sides), so I bumped it up to 72. The engine was still cold, so I figured it would take a while before I felt some decent heat. Well, cold air continued to blow out of the defroster vents well after the engine was fully warmed up, so I bumped up the temperature setting a few degrees again, but still cold air. WTF?
I raised the temp up all the way to the maximum setting and then really hot air started coming out of the defroster vents. After a minute or two, I was too hot, so I lowered the temp setting back down to 72. After driving a while, I was still hot as hell, so I lowered the temp back down to 68. Still too damn hot...WTF? So I eventually lowered the temp all the way down to "LO" and only then did the air coming out of the defroster vent feel cool. Actually, it felt cold. So once again, I bumped up the temp setting and no change in the air temp out of the defroster vents. Again, WTF?
When I got home, I decided to experiment a little and I found that the temperature out of the defroster vents WILL NOT changed until I have the temp setting all the way up or all the way down. There's no way to adjust to any temperature between the lowest and highest setting. This ONLY happens with the climate control set to defrost.
Anyone else experience this?
