Dishonest Dealership Practices?

So I registered my 2nd new 2014 Grand Cherokee on the UConnect site the other week (I traded in my 2014 Limited for an Overland), and while playing around on the site, I noticed a couple things.

First, a little background. The dealership I bought my new 2014 Overland at had to get it from another dealership 60 miles away, the Overland I received had no additional options, and when I took delivery, the vehicle had about 100 miles on it. One week later, I went up to the dealership where I bought it from and got my new registration & safety sticker (in and out in about 20 minutes)...vehicle at that point had about 360 miles on it.

Now with that said, when I login into UConnect, and I go to "Maintain & Care", then "Service History", it lists all the supposed service my 2014 Overland has had done to it. It verifies that my vehicle originated at a different dealership with only 10 miles on it...but under service description it states "accessories". Accessories for what? My vehicle was a straight Overland with NO options or accessories...I even verified this against the window sticker...nope, no accessories.

The other discrepency comes from the dealership I actually purchased the vehicle from. The date & mileage coincides from when I went back a week later to get the new registration & safety sticker, but under the service description it states "Rotate/Balance wheels"...no way could this had happened, I was there for no more than 20 minutes. the dealership never told me they did it, it's not on the work order, and they never even asked me where the wheel lock key was.

Now does this sound fishy to any of you? Could the two dealerships be stealing from Chrysler claiming they ordered phantom parts or claimed work that wasn't done? Or is this a matter of UConnect just being plain wrong.

As for accessories... did they install any of the items you list in your sig line... Mud Flaps / Pedal Set / Lighted Door Sills / Slush Mats & Cargo Mat?

I don't know how they could claim tire rotation/balance wheels when that's a normal maintenance item not covered under warranty.

Re: Dishonest Dealership Practices?

A week after I bought my GC, I checked my maintenance history and it showed something was done to the transmission. I called to find out what was done and they just coded refilling the def tank under transmission. Everything they do has to be in put in some category so they can get paid back.

No...I bought online and installed all the accessories in my signature myself, except the window tint.

Possibly they read the TSB about tires flat spotting due to setting too long, and did that?

Have you asked them wtf?

I have not ask the dealership anything, and most likely won't since I don't want to ruin relations so early in the game.

My post here basically was to warn people, and to see if anyone else has experienced this situation with their dealership ordering parts that weren't installed...or had warranty work listed but was never performed.

...or my UConnect file for my Overland is just completely wrong or something.

You don't need to ruin relationships, just note you had looked at an online report and was just wondering what those were, or if someone entered a wrong VIN.

Hand the guy a donut as you ask...

Come to think of it, this may be more of an issue than I first thought. If bogus work keeps showing up on my vehicles history, I'm wondering when it comes to trade-in...it might be worth that much less.

One would think the dealerships would be aware of a vehicles work history being posted on UConnect for the customer to see.

Sounds like you might be over-thinking this.

Sounds to me like your making a big deal over nothing. Maybe they did a tire rotation ? I would ask or maybe it was an error on the web site . I would ask if it concerns you. I don't see how you think this is somehow getting money out of chrysler. If a dealer orders accessories how would this cost chrysler money? To me them ordering accessories would be profit for chrysler.

Do you have a front license plate bracket installed? Dealer does that work if you do.
