NOW THIS WOULD HAVE BEEN FINE. Why couldn't they have just done that?? They put my old piece in the trunk...

Take the pictures and send to jeep corporate the dealer screwed up and they dont want to eat the cost plain and simple. Get corporate to find you a more reputable dealer to take it to. I would never take it back to bafoons that do something like that.

Uh what?

I can't believe they would even think that's what you'd want.

Why would they do the work and return it like that WTF?

What's the dealers name?

Re: Do I have any recourse here?

So with the logic from this dealership, lets say you get into a front end collision. If this dealership was to do the repair work I suppose I could expect the panels not to be painted LOL.

Anyway, so from what I'm gathering from MOFSTEEL is that you didn't even need to buy a new trim piece that requires painting? is that what he is saying? And that there is a separate trim piece that houses the camera. So thats even more shady. If thats the case I would go back and tell that dealership to take their unpainted panel back and put the original painted one back on....free of charge ofcourse.

Re: Do I have any recourse here?

You need to buy the full unpainted piece because unfortunately the two pieces are not sold separately. All you need to do is separate the painted fascia by working on the tabs starting from one side and slowly moving to the other. Then swap with the non-painted fascia and attach using some epoxy glue and snapping tabs back together.

The fact that they blamed me for not knowing it was unpainted is what's really making me angry. If they had said to me that this was unpainted I obviously would have told them to do it, that's just common sense. If they won't cover the charge there is absolutely no way I will have them do it, I am through with that dealership completely.
Any queries as to what exactly you'd be getting for the price quoted?
Any questions as to what installing the camera really meant?
Quotes from any other dealers significantly different so as to raise warning flags you might be getting a cut-rate incomplete deal?

Ahhh ok thanks for the info.

Hey OP with this in mind and if you're able to do the work yourself maybe consider just swapping that panel with your original. Its not hard at all to remove parts on the rear lift gate, then you can have the Jeep back to how it should be, and you don't have to worry about dealing with this crappy dealership.

Re: Do I have any recourse here?

If you paid by credit card, depending on what type of card you have, they can get involved as well by threatening to reverse the charge to the vendor.

Like I said, it depends what card you have, some are better than others, but this is the protection that credit cards provide. i would file this under paid for service that is not complete. Like others have said, get Jeep corporate involved as well.

Also, speak with the GM of the dealer.

Re: Do I have any recourse here?

You rate to have your parts back. Ask for your parts back. Take your painted trim piece and fix it yourself. Pretty schmucky of the dealership.
