Re: Detailing

MOF', it's just a choice that we each make and there are no wrong answers. I don't enjoy working on cars...never have. Except for scale models when I was a tween/teen.

Re: Detailing

I had mine done .

I was amazed by the carpets( which were stained by snow salt) . They were like new again.

The engine cleaning was also impressive.

Wasn't a fan of how they made the leather shiny though. Seats and dash were very shiny .

They also use some deodorant that I'm in the process of neutralizing.

I don't know if I like the idea of them doing the engine. Do they high pressure wash it first do you know? I kind of worry about water getting in somewhere it shouldn't be.

It's like the rest of us have all the free time in the world.
If you really wanted to do it you'd make time for it.

I've worked on all my cars mechanically and keep them and everything else I own as clean as possible. The Jeep stays as clean as life will allow for that time. I hope the day never comes where I don't have the ability or the willingness to do it myself.

OP ...read up on the best products and techniques to use if you're willing. In the end no one will treat your car like you treat it.
There was a time 20 years ago when I would have agreed with everything you said. Then life happened. At 43 I had a heart attack. At 51 I developed cancer. Not looking for sympathy just saying everybody's life experience is different. I wish I was but I am not able to do what I used to do. I still love cars and my new Jeep Cherokee in particular. I agree with you that no one takes care of my vehicles like I used to. BUT, I sure do enjoy watching the long legged young lady who I hire to detail my Jeep.

Re: Detailing

I take care of my Summit and my husband's Equiniox (it is a company car). I enjoy the washing, claying, putting sealant, wax and tire dressing on our cars. For me, it is the perfect form of therapy I do not have to pay for. I have a cabinet in the garage that is dedicated to all of my detailing supplies. The self satisfaction I get when the job is complete, is indescribable. For my birthday, last week, I got a foam cannon---and I am thrilled. I just wish the weather would cooperate for me to play with my new toy.

I am a 51 yr old (when did I get old---LOL) woman who enjoys detailing cars. I love having the best looking cars on our street

BTW----- My neighbors think I am nuts, too.

I think the neighbors are crazy because they never wash their cars.

I hope it's not a issue.

The Hemi looks fantastic when it's clean.

Ooooh - foam cannon! Which one did you get? That's on my short list for new detailing toys. I'm considering getting a simple hose unit so that I don't have to trot out the pressure washer every time I want to clean the car, but I know you get superior results with some PSI. I'm torn.

Re: Do You Detail?

I got the Wolfgang Pressure Washer Foam Cannon HP. My husband also got me a gallon of Chemical Guys Mr. Pink Super Suds along with Collinite Super Double Coat Auto Wax #476. I know that a lot of women wouldn't want that for their birthday, but it makes me happy knowing I have a new toy in my arsenal to keep our cars looking good.

Re: Do You Detail?

Detail? I rarely wash my vehicles. Anyway, my Rubicon and Overland would just get muddy again driving out to the road.

Re: Do You Detail?

My 2014 Laredo has been my first new vehicle. It is one year, and three months old (16,000 miles). I regularly detail the interior, and I never eat or drink in the vehicle.

I wash the exterior about three times a week, taking special care to do it correctly. I have found all of it to be very therapeutic, and I receive many complements on how well I have kept the Jeep. Some people are actually stunned when I tell them that it isn't new

You hand wash the Jeep 3 times a week?
