Re: Does anyone know what this is / does?

I didnt think it was a sensor either .
It connects at a "T" one line going up under the plastic engine cover (The line my finger was on and then also downward. Anyone with the 2014 V6 who's more mechanically inclined maybe can look at theirs and give a better description of where it connects.
If someone can solve this mystery I am going to make a point of going back to the dealership and finding that tech.

Re: Does anyone know what this is / does?

rglide is correct and tech is way wrong....it's just a plug to purge that end of the emission harness...I think it's interesting that a tech thought that would be a proper location for an ambient temperature sensor.

Re: Does anyone know what this is / does?

We all know it is the recharge port for the passenger ejector seat after it is activated by pull on: What's this gizmo hidden in console?

-------

Actually, what is an emission harness (it pulls up as wiring)?

Re: Does anyone know what this is / does?

^^^^^^

My bad, full name is Emission Control Vacuum Harness. You are asking about #10 in this diagram and it is connected to the Purge Control Valve.

You actually were close with your thought. This system takes the fuel vapors collected in the canister and sends them back into the engine for "recycling".

Tech is right that the stain has to be coincidence.

Re: Does anyone know what this is / does?

Interesting. My guess was perhaps with the new capless system, there needed to be a place where air can enter the gas tank to prevent a vacuum from occurring but not let in water, etc.

I remember getting stuck once in the 80's when the gas cap wasn't put on properly which created a vacuum and stalled my car. My friend and I thought we were doomed in winter weather....fortunately we stumbled on the fix.

Ambient temp sensor under the hood. Great idea! Every day would be 200บF+!

Funny this topic was posted. I was looking at this exact part a few weeks ago wondering what the heck it was myself.
