Does the dealership use fully synthetic oil?

I was told that my 2014 v6 jeep limited came with 4 free oil changes in two years and I only need to change oil every 6 months or indicated by the computer on my jeep. Does anybody know what kind of oil they use? I was wondering if the dealership use fully synthetic oil or just blend oil? In my case, I guess it's probably not synthetic oil I guess. If it's not fully synthetic, don't we need to change the oil every 3000 miles or 3 months? That's what some mechanic shops told me.

Re: Does the dealership use fully synthetic oil?

I'm sure you can get full synthetic, you would just pay the difference. I don't trust dealerships and I do my own maintenance when possible. You know it is done correctly.

Re: Does the dealership use fully synthetic oil?

Yea, that's what I was thinking. I'd better do it myself. Mobile 1 5w-20 should be okay. But is the extended performance 5w-20 better? Also, does mobile 1 has the right filter for 3.6L v6? Or I can only buy the filter from my dealer?

Re: Does the dealership use fully synthetic oil?

Well, ain't this a can o worms
Based on the boxes I see at my local dealers, they use Penzoil conventional and synthetic oil. Your Jeep likely did not come with syn from the factory. Conventional oil can easily go 5, 7, or even 10,000 miles on todays engines.

3,000 mile oil changes are a thing of the past. Just throwing away money if you are performing it that early on a new vehicle. Stick to the 6 months or when the computer tells you to change the oil and you will be fine.

Everybody has their own opinions about oil and oil changes.

Here's mine;

Read the Owner's Manual !

Re: Does the dealership use fully synthetic oil?

Standard oil changes are dino or semi-synthetic, depending on the dealer. But you can upgrade to full synthetic. I run full synthetic in my MY12 Summit...in fact, I'm due for my 24K change as of about 8:30p last night when it ticked over and the little chime rang.

Re: Does the dealership use fully synthetic oil?

Can someone answer the OP question.

If it is Dino oil I definitely will change it out early. Not 3000 but I won't wait for the oil meter, probably 5000. Synthetic can handle the 10k but not Dino IMHO.

So I'd like to know too what they ship with.

Re: Does the dealership use fully synthetic oil?

Except for the SRT, they are factory filled with dino oil meeting Chrylser's specs. Based on the price difference between dino and synthetic, I would be very surprised if a dealer's "free" oil changes were with synthetic, especially when the owner's manual does not specify it.

Re: Does the dealership use fully synthetic oil?

We (at the factory) only use synthetic in the SRTs and diesels.

Yes, dino/conventional oil CAN last 10,000 miles in today's engines.

Just check and fill up to normal if needed.

Re: Does the dealership use fully synthetic oil?

I read it twice but it doesn't say whether it's synthetic or not. It does say change it every 6k miles or 6 months. My last car is a very old car and usually change the oil every 3k miles or 3 months. So it surprised me at first the conventional oil now can last 6 months.
