Don't like the look of my new condensor

At thanksgiving I hit a deer, no !!! the damn deer ran into me. In my town the speed limit is 25 mph. I was going 23 mph. How do I know that? a cop was parked in a parking lot watching the traffic and when I saw him I looked down at the speedometer to make sure I was going the speed limit. To look at the front of my Grand Cherokee from 15 feet away it looked like almost no damage. Ahhhh....... the estimate came to $3400.00. Long story short, new grill, bumper, headlight assembly (left side), lower front bumper cradle, and a new condenser plus other small parts. All the parts were Chrysler original replacement parts EXCEPT THE CONDENSER. For some reason they could not get an original replacement so another type was put in. Its a very reputable shop with tons of awards for high quality workmanship. Work guaranteed for as long as you own the car etc. The Jeep looks beautiful, like new with no stone chips etc. as it should. However when I look into that beautiful chrome grill (actually plastic) LOL! I now see the bright aluminum condenser reflecting back. Shiny horizontal lines. Is that an indication of an inexpensively made condenser or can you actually get a good quality condenser made from bright aluminum. Its just not quite as nice looking as a solid black one would be. Comments appreciated. Thanks Guys.

My comments would be directed to the folks who did the repair: "Please replace with OEM so that it's not visible as was the case when it was made."

Re: Don't like the look of my new condensor

The insurance company likely won't do much about this. They are responsible to provide parts that are "sufficient" to bring your vehicle back into operating condition. I went through this when my wife hit a deer with her Jetta. They wanted to put a used hood on it and I fought back. It ended up not mattering after all, since they totaled it. But in your case, you are facing an uphill battle trying to get an OEM condenser. Good luck.

If you are that concerned with the bright finish, you can remove it and have it painted or maybe soda blasted to make it more of a matte finish.

Also maybe check ebay or craigslist for an OEM condenser.

Just spray paint it with some flat black. The aluminum will dull over time as it ages but you will still see it unless you rattle can it.
