Yes, anytime it is below freezing, 32F, and you try pushing thru 30" of snow in your driveway

) very encouraging !
Thanks everyone for their input.
I'll definitely try to heat the wheels next time if it happens while in the driveway.
If not the alcohol bottle spray seems a good idea if I only knew where those damn sensors are...

I guess trail-rated rated doesn't mean driveway-rated in blizzard conditions.

No where in the description of 'trail rated' is snow mentioned; driveways either.

Re: Driveway-rated ?

Now I know. If I'll ever want to hit any trails during the winter I'll have my car towed from the driveway to the beginning of the trail . Easy peasy

Re: Driveway-rated ?

I would like to see how people manage to spray alcohol on their ABS sensors... Assuming you can do it from the underneath of the car, with the area cleared of snow. And even then I know on some cars there's a shield in the way or the construction in of such manner that it doesn't let you do it. ABS sensors read inside the wheel hub, not on the brake disk...

Re: Driveway-rated ?

I agree about the ABS sensors. All the sensors I have seen have been sealed in the hub or rear end and not able to be cleaned without removal.

Re: Driveway-rated ?

Well we are getting lots of snow here in Chicago now. I just went around the block, thru 1 foot of snow, and in 4-LOW, ORA-1, SNOW mode, the Jeep was unstoppable.

Re: Driveway-rated ?

Just make sure that if you can get to those ABS sensors with the alcohol spray bottle, you stay under the legal limit. Wouldn't want to get a DWI (if you make it out of the driveway, that is).

So in 1 foot of snow would you say snow mode works best?
