Yes, that's what it's intended for. They also recommend partially turning the ESC off with the center stack button.

No, it doesn't unless you're in 4WD LOW. From the owners manual...

The ESC system has two available operating modes in 4WD HIGH range and two-wheel drive vehicles, and one operating mode in 4WD LOW range.

High Range (Four-Wheel Drive Models) Or Two-Wheel Drive Models

On

This is the normal operating mode for ESC in 4WD HIGH range and in two-wheel drive vehicles. Whenever the vehicle is started or the transfer case (if equipped) is shifted from 4WD LOW range or NEUTRAL back to 4WD HIGH range, the ESC system will be in this “On” mode. This mode should be used for most driving situations. ESC should only be turned to “Partial Off” mode for specific reasons as noted below.

Partial Off

This mode is entered by momentarily pressing the “ESC OFF” switch. When in “Partial Off” mode, the TCS portion of ESC, except for the BLD feature described in the TCS section, has been disabled and the “ESC Off Indicator Light” will be illuminated. All other stability features of ESC function normally. This mode is intended to be used if the vehicle is in deep snow, sand, or gravel conditions and more wheel spin than ESC would normally allow is required to gain traction. To turn ESC on again, momentarily press the “ESC OFF” switch. This will restore the normal “ESC On” mode of operation.

NOTE: To improve the vehicle’s traction when driving with snow chains, or starting off in deep snow, sand, or gravel, it may be desirable to switch to the “Partial Off” mode by pressing the “ESC OFF” switch. Once the situation requiring ESC to be switched to the “Partial Off” mode is overcome, turn ESC back on by momentarily pressing the “ESC OFF” switch. This may be done while the vehicle is in motion.

4WD Low Range

Partial Off

This is the normal operating mode for ESC in 4WD LOW range. Whenever the vehicle is started in 4WD LOW range, or the transfer case (if equipped) is shifted from 4WD HIGH range or NEUTRAL to 4WD LOW range, the ESC system will be in the “Partial Off” mode.

I guess what i was getting at is once you get into rediculously deep snow is snow mode still the best setting or going down into low gear a good option or doing something else or no just leave in snow? Of corse bottoming out would be an issue but other than that. I snow drive but not deep snow drive and might find my self in that next few days. Thanks

I'd say that snow mode is the best mode to be in if you're running on poorly plowed or unplowed roads. Then it's just a matter of how much forward speed you want to maintain. Personally, I like to keep as much forward speed as I safely can under the conditions, especially for hills.

Obviously your speed is limited in 4WD LOW. If you're going to stay in 4WD HI then the suggestion is to partially turn off the ESC with the button at the bottom of the center stack until the road conditions improve.

Snow mode sets the QL to normal ride height. I haven't tried it yet so I'm not sure if that height can be manually overriden to OR-1. If someone else has tried it, chime in if it can be overriden.

You're right about that. I raised the car to ORA-1 then dialed to SNOW mode and the car lowered. That warmed me up the wrong way like a snowball to my face. But then I hit the UP button so YES, it can be manually raised actually all the way to ORA-2.

So sounds that the best combo for ultra deep snow is snow mode esc off and ORA II until you completely bottom out anyway.

That is correct, but be aware it will lower again if you travel at highway speeds (just like in normal drive mode...it will lower all the way down to aero).
