I am certainly no expert at offroading, etc, but I have read it is best not to engage "every trick" up front. If you get stuck then, with your suspension at max and in 4LO, there are no further options at your disposal.

Re: Driveway-rated ?

SNOW mode, ORA-II, 4-LOW, OEM Michelin Latitude tires

Difference between DRIVEWAY and ALLEYWAY settings is that...I made it out of my driveway (1-1.5 feet of snow) into the alley (2-3 feet of snow drifts) and I got stuck ! I aired down and even then I was unable to return without help :-)))

Anyways I blame the tires ! The Jeep kept spinning its tires, what else can I ask ?

I just purchased 4 of these: TRED 800 (MaxTRax alternatives) because obviously I am not quite ready for a tire upgrade and sometimes nothing short of studded tires would help.

Re: Driveway-rated ?

I was out and about today after the new storm hit and was not really that confident. This will definitely be the last winter with the stock Forteras. Breaking was very scary. I assume better AT/Winter tires will also decrease breaking distance somewhat on snow.

Re: Driveway-rated ?

Get yourself some dedicated winters and keep your stocks for summer...And truly have fun during your winters! You'll be using each set half less, so, they'll last twice as long per season! ;-)

Can't say what it will do at highway speed if you're in OR1 or 2 but if you're in snow mode it won't lower down any further than normal ride height.

Mine still goes to aero in snow mode, right on speedometer schedule. You can't make it to highway speed in OR2 or 1.

Just curious... did you turn ESC off while trying that?

Hmmm... this is what the owner's manual says about snow mode:

Snow – Tuning set for additional stability in inclement weather. Use on and off road on loose traction surfaces such as snow. When in Snow mode (depending on certain operating conditions), the transmission may use second gear (rather than first gear) during launches, to minimize wheel slippage. If equipped with air suspension, the level will change to Normal Ride Height (NRH) if the transfer case is in high range. The level will change to Off-Road 1 if the transfer case is in Low range.

Obviously, one can't achieve highway speed in low range. But I don't get the impression that it should still drop to aero when in snow mode based on what the manual states. To me, dropping to aero kind of defeats the purpose of being in snow mode.
