Yeah, I really miss my 02's QD with Vari-loks. That was the best 4WD system I ever had.

If equipped with air suspension, the level will change to Normal Ride Height (NRH) if the transfer case is in high range. The level will change to Off-Road 1 if the transfer case is in Low range.

Obviously, one can't achieve highway speed in low range. But I don't get the impression that it should still drop to aero when in snow mode based on what the manual states.
Yep, and as you can see the manual does not say it disables aero mode at highway speed. Simply that it automatically switches to normal when you go into snow mode in 4HI (which is an annoying, BTW... who thought that was a good idea to force the suspension *down*?)

There has been confusion on this point in the past. I suggest people try for themselves one day when they plan to hit highway speeds. Put it in snow mode and see what happens. Do you hit aero or not?

To me, dropping to aero kind of defeats the purpose of being in snow mode.
Agreed. Hence my earlier warning about this scenario. Driver switches to Snow mode, defeats the stupid settling into "normal" and airs back up to OR1 or 2, drives at slightly faster speeds on clearer streets, suspension goes down to normal/aero, driver gets back onto unplowed streets, now in normal height rather than OR1 or 2.

Another view. I take solace in the fact that my ABS sensors worked admirably. Though I probably messed up my active cruise control sensor.

Re: Driveway-rated ?

LOL... yeah, I need to try all of this out for myself. Wouldn't be the first time there was a disconnect between what the manual states vs what the GC actually does or doesn't do.

Re: Driveway-rated ?

Crazy snowy here in Portsmouth and on my way home to south berwick.
Had to drive with 25-30. I wasn't feeling too confident to drive faster but that was the speed the traffic was moving anyway.
Had to drive through 1 foot and a half in my driveway and I made it to the garage :P
Lucky I guess.
Ofc in the meantime it prob snow another half foot so there's no way I can back out without getting stuck in the morning.

Can you turn your car around now, so that tomorrow you can plow ahead (so to speak), and also not have to worry about clogging the exhaust?

LOL... yanno, the obvious just occurred to me.

If the road conditions are that bad to warrant using snow mode, common sense would dictate that you're not going to be driving at speeds high enough to activate aero mode.

Maybe Jeep felt they didn't need to prevent the vehicle going into aero for that reason?

Who knows?

Haha. If it were me I would just plan to clear some snow first. Between packing up snow and using the front plastic fascia as a snow plow, I'm not certain the plastic fascia will hold unscathed.

I can't live without my ACC!

Meh. I will use snow mode around town. The neighborhoods might have snow covered streets, but the highways are well salted and clear. You only have to get up to 62 mph to trigger the change.

However the real brain damage is forcing the suspension *down* when entering snow mode. I could see forcing it *up* to normal at least, but making it exit OR1 or 2 in order to get down into normal is just stupid. "I was in OR1 for a reason!"

All 4 ...and the spare ! Did you see the other videos on the previous page?

I always upgrade shit on my cars. But some things are upgraded when there's a reason to replace OEM equipment and some are replaced when there is another compelling reason: e.g. as a week-end warrior I am not going to replace tires and brakes until they are worn out. That is when I will upgrade to a better than stock replacement.
