Driveway-rated ?

After the Monday-Tuesday snowstorm I ended up with 20-30" of snow in my driveway. The first section close to my garage has the least snow top 20". I thought would be fun to see how far I can get into the driveway with snow setting on and offrd 2. It went pretty well, maybe 3\4 of the driveway, fun fun fun , and as expected it got kinda stuck when I reached the part where the snow was higher...just below the headlights. I tried 4low thinking it might help but it didn't, switched back to 4hi, it was already loosing traction because of the ice underneath so I gave up
No biggie.. I stopped the car start shoveling for the next 3h starting at the garage and going to the car and around . Plan was to back into the garage and shovel the rest.
NOT !!! First abs error, then 4wd needs service, then 4wd transfer in progress. I lost traction on all wheels but the rear right. That was the only one that was still spinning!
So I had a nice clean driveway with a friggin cherry red cork at the end, obviously blocking my wife's car too.
Tada!
Am I insane for trying that? Maybe the overland is not really driveway-rated.
I should mention that with exception of very soft snow the driveway was obstacle free. No chunks of ice no rocks nothing. Just a flat driveway with lots if snow.

I had to tow the car. Imagine the embarrassment.

Ideas?

Re: Driveway-rated ?

A while back I asked a question about what could happen if the GC goes over compacted snow and get's 'shelved" Can there be damage? I think you might have answered my question.

Sorry this happened. I took my GC out after the storm and I hit an 'island' separating the two directions of traffic. I hit the island and went up and was on about 18" of snow and I almost got stuck on the stock forteras, but was able to work to the side of the island and got some clearance and worked it out.

Re: Driveway-rated ?

Obviously you have a problem as this was a light fluffy snow. I am glad you discovered it while in your driveway and look forward to you sharing the resolution with us.

Yes and he was in OR2.

I think its different going thru deep powered snow on the street and doing it on your driveway and then stopping. Once you stop aren't you compacting the snow under the jeep and with no momentum it's probably alot harder then some off-road situation and driving thru deep powder on the street. Those driveways are dangerous.

Driveway-rated ?

I've had my jeep in snow this deep and had no issues. But then again I drove my 11 overland through my yard once on a nice sunny day and my jeep almost completely shut down.....threw a code, was totally weird.

I've also had temporary issues after taking my jeep for rides on the beach. I would get the traction control error message after I got back on pavement. It would go away after an hour or so but it was annoying and concerning.

Sorry you are having these issues, I know how you feel....

Re: Driveway-rated ?

I suspect the errors will go away as well. Probably got snow/ice on sensors.

With that deep snow, you need speed/momentum to keep going. As soon as you slow down you're dead.

Why couldn't you dig it out?

I'd have to agree. Over the hood snow shouldn't affect it, but that presumes you maintain momentum, where that is a tad risky going toward a garage door unless that is a really wide door. Over the hood snow is fun, but I wouldn't claim that the vehicle is always travelling in a straight line.

Wonder if just used low enough speed to cook something--something that should not have cooked to your point.

Re: Driveway-rated ?

If you were pushing snow and the snow got past the grill and covered the trans cooler it may help too overheat the trans as you try to get unstuck.

I hope thats not the case
