Driving away without the key?

The request took a little over 3 minutes....too long in my opinion. Anyways, yeah. U could start with the app. If you aren't in a rush.

Re: Driving away without the key?

You can start it from the app but you can't take it out of park until you are inside with the fob and push the start button just like using the fob remote start. So you could get in and stay warm/cool but not drive anywhere

Yea you can start it with the app but you aren't going to be able to drive anywhere if you don't have the key....so there is no point. The app does nothing in this situation

Re: Driving away without the key?

My wife and I have always shared our vehicles although I don't think she ever drove my Renault Alliance because she thought it was ugly.

Re: Driving away without the key?

My wife has her keys in her purse and I have mine in my pocket. When I drive and have to get out of the Jeep while it's running she tells me when I get back it was beeping the whole time, even though her keys are in the jeep. Maybe one key fob is a primary or maybe the sensor knows by location which key holder is the driver. Just pointing out, it still beeps with both.

One time I left my keys at home, dropped her at the front of the grocery store and it started beeping. She handed me her keys through the window and it kept beeping until I was driving over 5mph-ish but the display still showed keys left vehicle, it won't reset until the door is opened and closed.

Re: Driving away without the key?

That's weird. We carpool so I use my fob which is in my pocket to start the engine. My wife's fob is in her bag that usually goes in the back seat and the Jeep doesn't complain when I get out at the mailbox. Maybe we'll have to switch fobs to see if anything happens.

Re: Driving away without the key?

I think it "can" recognize which key fob is the driver, mayb lol. My theory revolves around the idea that you can set the memory for the seats and steering wheel location to a specific key fob.

So , when i open the driver door with my key fob my seats automatically set to my setting. If the wifee opens it sets it up to her setting.

Re: Driving away without the key?

If I'm not mistaken you probably set up the drivers individual settings per key. So the vehicle is only recognizing the key tied to the settings.

Re: Driving away without the key?

thats correct, but it will drive with either - so if one leaves it doesnt matter

as far as remote start /drive it... remote start it then get in an touch the gas pedal. it will immediately shut off. its not going anywhere, even if you could get it into drive
