Re: DRLs or no DRLs?

From what I understand from reading on one of the Jeep forums all that has to be done is to change the country from USA to Canada.
Canada requires DRLs so they become activated. Sounds simple.

Re: DRLs or no DRLs?

Sounds simple enough. Im going to take it down to my jeep dealer and ask them about it. Do you think the change from USA to Canada will affect anything else (digital speedometer , etc) ?

I have not checked up on it, myself. I am happy without DRLs. To me they were more of a PITA.

Any update here, did the dealer activate the DRLs?

Re: DRLs or no DRLs?

I didn't take my jeep in to the dealer but I did figure out a solution of sorts. If you have automatic lights, cover the sensor on the dashboard in the center of the front glass. I threw a shirt over mine to see if it worked and sure enough it did. So tomorrow I'm going to use some duct tape or electrical tape to cover it. Leave my lights in auto mode and just fool the car into always turning on my headlights.

Re: DRLs or no DRLs?

Thats not a solution IMHO. Leaving the lights on all the time runs the headlights, all the marker lights, the rear lights, all the interior lights, dims the display and nav screen...

Re: DRLs or no DRLs?

I have a Laredo base. So really for me it's either headlights on or nothing at all. Its not the most elegant solution but it will definitely increase your visibility. Works for me

This is what I did for years in my old van with no DRLs. You can switch the interior lights to daylight mode.

But see, thats what we're talking about. Some members here say the dealer can activate the DRL's with their handheld device so that they work on any GC.

... By the way the light switch does not have to be in auto mode. I'm not a big fan of DRLs but I swapped the stock lights out with LED and love the look. I also didn't want to pull the fuse.
