Eco mode fix or patch coming soon?

The one this I can't stand is that I have to press the eco button every time I enter my Jeep. It's been confirmed by a few members that the MY15's have fixed this, When you press the eco button off and restart your vehicle it stays off. Do you guys think there will be some kind of update for the rest of us?

Re: Eco mode fix or patch coming soon?

Yeah, I noticed that on the 2015, but I didn't realize that the 2014 models would always revert to Eco mode.

During my drive, I didn't notice anything annoying about driving in Eco mode. What makes you want to turn it off every time?

It feels sluggish. I like the way it drives with eco mode off. On the highway I don't mind it.

Re: Eco mode fix or patch coming soon?

MDS and I think it's the TQ lockup that engage too early. It not only is noisy, but a low speeds (25 mph) it causes lugging with my HEMI. It seems to hold the rpms too low as it is already in 5th gear.

I never noticed it until around 5,000 miles. Some others mentioned the same thing. It was suggested that MDS might be disabled until the Jeep has some miles on it, to allow all cylinders to break in under the same conditions.

I turn mine off all the time, and would appreciate an update that would restart the Jeep as it was when I turned it off.

Re: Eco mode fix or patch coming soon?

Wait, the 2015 models keep the ECO mode off if you turn it off and restart the vehicle? Damnit Jeep, thanks for listening, but fix this now in the 2014 models. I don't know who in their right mind thought it was a good idea to have this thing reset every time. I still love this vehicle, but starting to wish I waited for the 2015 model instead.

If you just wait for the '16s, maybe the radio will stay muted.

Re: Eco mode fix or patch coming soon?

Marketing guys...Marketing. They marketed the Jeep with better fuel mileage on the 2014 models. Are they doing that with the 2015? not that I've seen. To get the EPA numbers they state, that is why the ECO mode. This was discussed long ago in the forums. I too wish it could be turned off but I'm not losing sleep over it.

With my kids in the car and all the noise they make, I would never want that feature .

This was a very common theme during most of 2013 on 2014 Models.

But since they released the software fixes in December 2013 MOST folks are very happy in ECO mode.

Make absolutely certain you have all the updates done.

It is night and day difference. I have ZERO temptation to shut ECO Mode off now. But I sure did during the first 5 months or so.

I'm never tempted to use Sport Mode either. You step on it and it just goes. Smooth as silk. Good response. etc.

Good luck.

Re: Eco mode fix or patch coming soon?

I’m the same, I don’t bother turning ECO off anymore, it doesn’t cause me any issues.

Re: Eco mode fix or patch coming soon?

I live at the bottom of a moderately steep hill, so when I go anywhere and I have to drive up this hill the auto decides 3rd gear is the right one to pick, and does so at about 500rpm. I started deselecting the eco mode, which helps, but more lately I've taken to using the paddles to select 2nd, then back into drive from the top of the hill onwards.....
