Re: Eco mode, huge difference

I noticed all of you have V6s. Eco does make a difference on my 5.7L V8. I'm getting 20+ mpgs on the interstate running at 65-75 mph using Shell 93 octane.

I would agree with Eco mode makes a difference in the v8,
but I'm using 89 octane

Re: Eco mode, huge difference

Eco mode increased the fuel economy on my 14 and also on my 16 by about 1 mpg or so.

No. When you hit 79mph in 8th gear and keep accelerating slowly, it will stay in 8th. If it ever needs to downshift it won't go back into 8th after that. Not even coasting. But this is just on my GC.

Re: Eco mode, huge difference

How do you get the eco mode permanently turned off when the car is in auto mode ? I bought a big V8 cause I like the sound ...I don't want it constantly shutting down 4 cylinders every time I'm on a light throttle and causing the whole car to vibrate ... What does it take to get it permanently deactivated ?

Yeah MDS started to get kind of annoying to me towards the end of ownership of my 2014 Summit. It was most notable in neighborhood kind of driving where you do lots of turns without coming to a full stop. Everytime you get back into the throttle the car sort of surges then all cylinders kicked back in. Obviously pressing the ECO button would keep that off, but as far as permanently deactivating it that I'm not sure about. Maybe the Chrysler scan tool can do something like that, but its not something just anybody has.

Re: Eco mode, huge difference

As far as I know, there is no way to "turn off" ECO. The computer controls it, not the driver. Having the Eco button "on" allows for it to be used more liberally. But it does not completely disable it. These systems are designed to be pretty well "customer proof".

Re: Eco mode, huge difference

So are MPG ratings based on this ECO mode or not? Can i expect better MPG enabling ECO mode compared to that of the GC's rating?

No, ratings would be with ECO on. I leave mine on 95% of the time, the rest would be just playing around in sport mode. My V6 is currently getting slightly above the stickers ratings, but that all just depends on the driving habits. Having owned both V6 and V8, the stickers MPG ratings are very accurate.

I like to use mid range 95 octane (RON). This provides the best range/power for the price.

USA (AKI/PON) --- Europe (RON)

87 = 91
89 = 93
91 = 95
93 = 98
