Agreed. Same for me. Sport and ECO are completely different.

+1

I drop it into sport when I need extra passing power or for a little extra getup and go when merging onto the freeway. ECO makes my car feel bogged down & sluggish - hate it.

Re: Economy Mode button, hate the default?!

FWIW, the official spiel:

Fuel Economy (ECO) Mode
The Fuel Economy (ECO) mode can improve the vehicle’s overall fuel economy during normal driving conditions. Press the “eco” switch in the center stack of the instrument panel and a amber light will indicate the ECO mode is engaged. When the Fuel Economy (ECO) Mode is engaged, the vehicle control systems will change the following:
• The transmission will upshift sooner and downshift later.
• The overall driving performance will be more conservative.
• Some ECO mode functions may be temporarily inhibited based on temperature and other factors.

SPORT (S)
This mode alters the transmission’s automatic shift schedule for sportier driving. Upshift speeds are increased to make full use of available engine power. To switch between DRIVE and SPORT modes, tap the shift lever rearward. SPORT mode is only accessible from DRIVE.
NOTE: When Sport Mode is enabled, the vehicle’s air suspension system will operate in “Aero” Mode. Please refer to “Quadra Lift” within this section for further information.

Can't say how Eco and sport feel on the pentestar but on the hemis it's night and day.

I never turn off eco mode. My Jeep is quite spirited with it on. Guess I just got lucky.

Re: Economy Mode button, hate the default?!

Correct me if I'm wrong but this update is for WK and WD vehicles. it looks like the update where it stays off is for WD vehicles (Dodge Durangos) only. We 2014 JGC guys are still stuck with Eco on at startup for now.

I guess the 2.1l in displacement increase from 3.6 to 5.7l have some kind of impact, that would also be my expectation.
Eco is probably more of an issue for the ones with more than half empty engine bays, therefore, spirited not so :-)

Re: Economy Mode button, hate the default?!

Just curious, was open road driving last week and wanted to pass a B Double road train so I pulled the - paddle twice to drop to 6th and up shifted to 8th as I built up speed and passed it.

Question is It didn't appear to want to return to "D" mode once I retuned to a steady 110 (as it does in my wifes Subaru Gen5 Liberty/legecy). does it remain in Sports mode or will it eventually return to D after a period of time?

Cheers

Re: Economy Mode button, hate the default?!

Took my 2014 V8 4x4 Summit in for oil change, tire rotation, that steering column recall reprogram (P64) and there was an RRT (14-087) regarding HVAC that they had to do BUT NO TRANSMISSION SERVICE BULLETIN 21-003-15 SHOWED UP.....ARGH. My service tech who is nice asked me where I get these things (referring to the half-shaft axle replacement thing I told him about last year too).....but there was no service bulletin that would pop up for mine....which makes no sense since it should include mine. I even had a printed out copy. Double argh!

Well....I have to take it in for a hopefully miner lift gate closer latch sensor thingy which for that I need an appointment (earliest is two weeks out) so will insist on the Service Bulletin 21-003-15 be performed at that time. It does say that wiTECH software level must be 15.02 or higher so perhaps they are behind. Dunno.

Who all has had the Service Bulletin 21-003-15 performed on a 2014 4x4 V8 GC? Did you have to specifically ask for it???

67HR

If you are in Sport just tap the shifter back one and it will go into Drive. If your just in Manual mode which activates once you use the paddles just hold the + paddle for a second and it will return to full auto whether your in Drive or Sport.
