Economy Mode button, hate the default?!

I'm wondering if there is re-flash that would enable the driver to chose a default?
I don't want to be told that I have to start in Economy Mode with impossible early shift points , it takes the last bit of fun from the Grand Cherokee 3.6l engine...

Is there a way to change the default On after vehicle starts, basically invert the Eco Mode switch behaviour?

On the '15s. You didn't mention what you are driving.

No, The 14's will not hold ECO button choice after turning off the engine. You will have to press the button each time you start the vehicle if you want ECO mode off. Or, you could just shift straight to Sport mode when you put the vehicle into Drive and ECO mode will disable automatically.

On the 15s the shift points between normal and Eco mode aren't really much different either (at least with the 5.7--might still be different with the 3.6). On the 14s there was a huge shift point difference.

With the last Transmission update (Dec-2013-ish if I recall)
I barely notice the difference with Eco On or Off on the 3.6L.
Mostly on the highway on how much it resists wanting to goto into 8th.
But off the highway it's fine on or off.

I could care less that it defaults to On or Off.

Very quiet, smooth and responsive with Eco-On.

If you have a hard shifting transmission you might notice it more.
It might be upshifting and downshifting a lot, but it's so quiet, smooth and responsive you wouldn't know unless you look at the dash.

That seems to be the main difference between Eco on or off on the 2015 5.7 version as well. It doesn't do the fast upshifts in Eco like it did on my 2014.

First vehicle (I had many) with automatic transmission where the tranny really bothers me big time.
Why? Something is just not right (had the re-flashes done, will go back to dealer again) either with the tranny or with me, could be both :-)

Re: Economy Mode button, hate the default?!

I always keep mine off. I've had all the updates and it shifts perfectly in Eco but I notice the acceleration is not as quick when it's engaged. There also seems to be a slight lag when you hit the gas hard from a dead stop. (Like you would when making a left turn across on coming traffic)

There was a Service Bulletin regarding the eco default, dated (10/13/2014 # 08-098-14) It says for models 2015 (but in the note) of the bulletin it says it applies to vehicles built on or before 8/14/2014. The software in the vehicle has to be 15.02 or higher. I have no idea what mine is? I'm wondering if that can be updated also? Next time I bring my Jeep in (2014 Limited) I am going to enquirer about this. (Attached Service Bulletin)

Probably 2015 models years only, I'll ask my dealer about this.
Eco mode should never be the default but a choice, probably has to do with fuel regulations, who cares about the driving experience :-)

Yes, the ability to set eco off as default is only MY15 but there is a TSB out on it as apparently it isn't always accepting your setting.

Well they had to choose one setting for default. They picked the one that most drivers would be happy with. Luck of the draw.
