Electra-Hydraulic Steering

I love the steering in my new WK2.
It is very soft, effortless and very easy to work the wheel.
But... I'm not sure how much I like it in Winter Driving. Unlike conventional belted steering pumps, I get very little to no feedback in the steering wheel. It almost feels like you are floating on air.
In my other cars, I can feel the road, I can feel if my tires are biting into the snow, slush and ice. With this car, I feel nothing. Sometimes going into corners I get a little tense because I can't feel it grab, it just floats around the corner and I don't get the sensation of if its got good traction or not.
I guess I just need to get used to this steering system.

Re: Electra-Hydraulic Steering

You will quickly get used to it, but try sport mode and see if you feel a difference.

Re: Electra-Hydraulic Steering

Tires could also be a factor, unless you have already switched from the original equipment. None of the OEM tires are great on snow, particularly the slushy type.

Re: Electra-Hydraulic Steering

I have 18" Dulers on Wrangler rims I use for the winter.
I love how the steering is so effortless.... I just need to get the feel of it better because I get no road feedback coming through the steering wheel. It's so smooth, it feels like you are floating on air!
