Employee Pricing Plan - Canada

I have a family member that works for Chrysler Canada in Windsor. So I have available to me the employee pricing plan.
So I was shopping around for a 2011/2012 Overland. I just started today, only went to one dealership so far.
They were trying to get me into a 2011 for obvious reasons, but don't seem to wanna deal.
They basically said the best I could do was the EPP which amounts to about a $3760 discount. They said there is no negotiating that price... and if I didn't have that available the best I could do was a $2500 discount.
They said it doesn't matter if i get a 2011 off the lot or order a 2012.
This doesn't seem right to me. I would assume they would discount a 2011 a lot more than a 2012?
Any info would be great on this. The EPP is a discount from Chrysler right? So can't I expect to get something more from the selling dealership?
I was under the impression that people were getting around 5K discounts.

I get a discount through work, which works out to a similar discount as yours and they informed me the same info as you.
I am in Alberta

Re: Employee Pricing Plan - Canada

There does not seem to be any panic at the dealer I visited a week ago either. The offer was 2K off a 54k limited (MSRP). Had neither the color nor option list I wanted but that didn't seem to have any effect on the sales person. There does not seem to be any reason (other than time) to buy off the lot as opposed to ordering exactly what you want.

Can't see taking a years' depreciation for no reason.

Checking out another dealer 120KM out of town on Wed.

Fortunately, my 2003 JGC limited is fine and I can wait until I am ready.

I don't think you can negotiate more savings if you're using employee pricing.

It's great that they are offering emploee pricing but can anyone explain why the GC is $7000.00 more here in Canada? Our dollar has been higher or at par for some time now so unless Fiat has demanded that they price their "export" cars in Euros we are getting ripped off big time.

Re: Employee Pricing Plan - Canada

The price difference is frustrating and no one I talk to can give me an answer. I believe that it is Chrysler Canada setting the prices and the dealers just follow it.

Not only are vehicle prices way more expensive, the parts are also. I bought mud flaps at a US dealer for $39 (list price.) I called a few dealers in Ottawa and asked the price on the same flaps and the price was $67 - they offered to lower the price a bit, but when I told them the US price, they said that they couldn't even buy them from Chrysler at that price! I suggested that they buy them directly from a US dealer.

Not only is there the huge price difference, if you buy a US vehicle and register it in Canada - there goes your warranty! Considering the cost of parts and labor here, I got the 7 year $0 deductible ($4,330 - list.) I did not pay near that - anyone want to know where I got it send me a PM.

I bought a Laredo X with towing and Nav (list for $44,120) for $40,157 (not including freight, AC tax and HST) It came out to about 8.9% below the vehicle list.

Re: Employee Pricing Plan - Canada

So is it safe to say that I won't get a better discount than the EPP or even the FFP?
Because if thats true, I won't even try to negotiate. I'll just walk in with the number and do the deal.
My understanding was FFP = 3670 discount and the EPP = 4460 discount.

Re: Employee Pricing Plan - Canada

I refused to pay the Canadian price. Use your wallet and quit buying stuff up here in Canada and let them know it!
I bought a "slightly" used WK2 Overland for $39k. Warranty can be purchased third party from companies who are aware of us folks bringing cars up from the states without warranty.
Laws should be changed so that auto companies cannot deny warranty cross border. It's just another scare tactic.
I purchase most of my after market parts from the states as well.

Re: Employee Pricing Plan - Canada

Anyone know what the current Canadian employee pricing plan price would be on a 2014 SRT, or an approximate % off MSRP?

Good luck getting a dealer to honour that on a SRT. Out here in Alberta they are still marking them up $10-15K
