Engine Block Heater Cord?

Just took delivery of my '14 Limited V8 with the block heater. I know this is a DUMB question, but is this the cord for the heater that's wrapped up in the plastic housing? The manual simply says,
"5.7L Engine bundled and fastened to the injector harness." Just wanted to be sure when the time comes to use the heater. Thanks!

Re: Engine Block Heater Cord?

Mine was wrapped up just behind the passenger side headlight. Took the salesman and myself a few minutes to find it.

Re: Engine Block Heater Cord?

Just curious, when would you need it on a Gas Engine (in NC)?

Re: Engine Block Heater Cord?

Sit your rig at -40 for 20 hours and it is easy to understand why. Most parking sites that can/will reach those temperatures for days and weeks straight will have free plug-ins.

-20 will make it hard to start your diesel but even with 2 batteries -40 or warmer with the right wind will make impossible to start your gas engine. And when if it does start it will let you know its not happy about it.

I live at the top of Beech Mountain (5500') and we have a few periods of single digit temps and average over 80" of snow each winter. Just trying to keep the new member of the family as comfortable as possible!

We occasionally hit negative single digits (usually during 1 or 2 cold spells each winter), never mind positive single digits and I've never had a problem with a gas engine.

Good synthetic, certainly makes a huge difference.

Re: Engine Block Heater Cord?

Once you find it, it seems obvious but it was easy to miss.
