Im looking at a New 2014 leftover in North Carolina (I live in TX). There are photos posted online that are of really great quality.

I was just curious if any of you have ever done this. If so, how did it go/ what tips and tricks can you recommend?
Several. Went smooth. A lot is dependent on the dealer or person you're dealing with. Make sure it's an established dealer or merchant. If it's a new leftover, I'd just find out why it might be leftover. Combo of options (or lack of) that weren't desirable? I wouldn't worry about that at all.

If it's a more in-demand version, I'd ask flat-out what's wrong with it, and make sure the dealer knows you're not going to be happy if you arrive and there are any surprises.

As long as the dealer or merchant has a good reputation, I'd buy sight-unseen again.

My 2002 Wranger has been the best used purchase I've made, and I flew from NY to Chicago to pick it up.

Re: Ever buy a car without seeing it in person?

Bought one car this way over my last 21 years of driving. It was a 2007 BMW 750Li that I purchased through Texas Direct Auto. Bought the car on Ebay after making sure my bank had my back. Then, they shipped the car in less than 3 days. Showed up, flatbed driver dropped it, and I drove it for about 5 minutes to make sure it wasn't sh*t. Had it since 2010 with no major issues. That being said, it could have been a disaster, but I would have told the truck driver to haul it right back to Houston and shove it up the sales manager's a**. Still, I'd recommend buying in person, or at least test driving before you put your hard earned money in a dealer's/private seller's hands.

That's my 2 cents.
