exceptable transmition temp's towing

Hello, I have just towed my 6x8' trailer with my quad for the first time, an was watching transmition fluid temps. When I left home it was 157 an after going about 15 miles, I noticed it was already up to 197 degrees. What is acceptable temps when towing? I have a 2014 jeep summit an wondered if it should climb that quick in 15 miles of minor up's down's an stop an go's. ???? any advice????.......sonny

Re: exceptable transmition temp's towing

Mine get to 195-205 when towing pretty fast. I have a bunch of toys so I tow between 1000-5500lbs often. Seems to get up to that temp and stabilize.

Re: exceptable transmition temp's towing

My trans temp is always about 20F under the oil temp which I have not seen over 195F after about 100 miles of Interstate at 65 mph & at 90+F with a 4,000 lb trailer.

When towing I do "drive gentle" (usually on cruise) and Florida is flat. YMMV.

I towed a 22 bow rider with twin axle trailer from MI to Texas and it varied from 197 to 205 the whole trip.
