It does ... only that variation is called a "Dodge Durango".

Re: Explorer vs Jeep

^There is already a thread for that. We have come to the conclusion that the Jeep is superior! The Durango has it's features, but not enough to be considered an alternate to a GC.

It's not a direct alternative, agreed. If you want to carry 7-8 people, you will have to make some sacrifices in greater weight, less off-road capability, etc. My point is this: You cannot put a third seat in a JGC and still have it be a JGC. The Durango is what you get if you try

Hmm, maybe it's just me but when I'm thinking of "Dodge", "poor quality" is the first thing I'm thinking of...

Yeah, well a lot of people think that about Chryco period. Hopefully that's changing, as a lot of us are betting on it by buying a new JGC.

BTW, the Durangos are built on the same line as the JGC, so you'd better hope that quality has been improved!

Have you looked at the two (GC and the Durango), notice any similarities? (Hint: Like everything)

This is now my #1 concern about buying a JGC. I want to make a decision soon but have to get over this fear. All the posts about the shudder, QL issues, and others have me a little spooked right now. I made a list of positives vs negatives last night and short warranty + risk of repeated repair trips is weighing heavily on the neg side...

With some exceptions, the realibility of Chrysler products has been lousy and at times terrible since the mid-1950s. Still, the Chrysler-Benz WK2 is a whole different critter, and thus far FIAT's management has run circles around anything seen in Detroit in many decades.

Most impressive are 1) not a single critical problem has arisen with the WK2 in its first year, and 2) TSBs have been issued consistently to resolve the various noncritical issues that have arisen. In short, this vehicle appears to be better engineered and better manufactured, and the company is keeping on top of problems that do arise.

So, yes, it's still something of a craps shoot, but so far the prognosis appears to be encouraging.

Re: Explorer vs Jeep
