Re: Extended Test Drive V6 Limited

That's just that way it is in auto forums Eric, everyone has an opinion. Mine's based on logic and facts.

When I bought my Jeep I had four criteria, in order of priority:

1. Overland
2. V6.
3. Off the lot or in the dealer's trade region. (I really wanted to get out of my Expedition ASAP, since I no longer needed the hauling capacity and hated paying for all that gas.)
4. Red, green or blue. Maybe a gun metal, but definitely not white.

My dealer had about 16 Overlands, but only one V6, and it was in silver. It wasn't my color, but the dealer agreed to give me a little more off on the price because he didn't have to transport another vehicle. Since then, I have learned to like silver.

Re: Extended Test Drive V6 Limited

I'm the new guy here and simply want to offer my opinion concerning the engine choices. I traded my 2011 overland hemi for a 2012 SRT8 for several reasons, but mainly because the 5.7 just didn't perform very well for a V8. My wife drives the honda accord with a V6 and it blows the pants off the 5.7 hemi. I'm an older guy in my 60's and I do enjoy a spirited ride so I bought the SRT8 to play around with. I recently bought a 2013 overland summit with the V6 for my daily driver and kept the SRT8 for my toy. The v6 is fine for my longer trips when visiting family. It is a very smooth & quiet ride and not too bad on gas.

Bottom line, If you can't have them all, get what you want.

Re: Extended Test Drive V6 Limited

This 6 cylinder vs. V8 debate is nothing new. It was going on over on the WJ side while I had mine and was probably going on for previous gen as well. I was one of the guys with the big honking V8. I expected mileage to be bad (16MPG average) but what I did not expect was the cooling issues on top of the other issues that generation had. Straw that broke the camel's back was when one of the head gaskets went at less than 100k miles. I was wishing I had the 6 cylinder engine at that point.
BTW, Doesn't the HEMI need new spark plugs every 30k miles and take 2 per cylinder? If access is as "good" as it was on the WJ, I wonder how much that 30k service costs at the stealership.

Re: Extended Test Drive V6 Limited

Yes the Hemi needs two plugs per cylinder. That's due to the inefficient shape of the combustion chamber. I'm not sure of the 30K service though, 100k has been the norm for a while now.

Re: Extended Test Drive V6 Limited

Hemi Plugs are to be Changed EVERY 25k to 30K Miles.

The 4.slow had the easiest plug to change ever, but WJ's VERY picky on plugs

Just because one "feels" better one the test drive doesn't mean it's the smarter choice, you assclown.

Until you own a WK2, your comments in this forum mean nothing! Now go back to druelling over our WK2's (V6 or V8) you jealous fool. Na-na na-na boo boo, stick your head in doo doo.

And your 3.7 is a HUGE POS. Great choice there slapnuts. LOL. I don't think many here will value your opinion.

Just to show her what a real man is packing. Better yet, I have a buddy who lives in NC, post your address and I'll have him drive his Boss 302 over to show you and your family what a real man and a real Mustang consists of.
