If you already have 59K kms on your rig and it has been trouble free and you have maintained it well, you most likely don't need the extended warranty.

briceboke's experience in post #5 seems anomalous. briceboke, I'm sorry you're having this experience. kdtok95, I still wouldn't buy the EW.

kongamonga's post #8 is an example of someone's risk threshold, and they sleep better having the EW. EWs do give some peace of mind.

And Patriotism's post #9 is an eye opener -- wow!

So, briceboke, it comes down to if you're comfortable risking it or not. Good luck, and welcome to Jeep Garage!

Signed,
One who loves his rig but has had some problems with it and is having Jeep replace his 2014 with a 2016. No EW here, either, the replacement is covered by Jeep.

Is that quote from the dealership?.

Rack replacement is pretty standard.
Most regular techs can do it for a fraction of that cost.

Remember, you also have to budget for tune-up (spark plugs),tires and axle service in the not so distance future.

I had 62,000 almost (one tie rod end) troublefree kms on my '08......then the turbo went.......a couple thousand kms later the fuel pump went.....total covered by extended warranty was well over $13,000.
Just sayin'....

I assume my US based opine applies to the OP north of the border

I have had the rack replaced in both my '14 Summit and my '15 SRT under warranty of course but those racks are $750 USD retail, and $500-650 USD street price. Labor, anywhere, is I think 2.5hrs ish so pick your shop rate....

If your ownership will go beyond warranty coverage, pick a plan that matches your intended ownership miles/duration and GET IT.

The "house" wins not on people like you and I who research, pay way below msrp and match miles and term of extended coverage to our ownership situation correctly but on those who don't. Those who get sold by the finance mgr at near msrp and/or get a plan and then don't keep it the duration for all of life's good reasons to trade/change are the ones that make it work for the "house" as there are many more of "them" than there are of "us".

just my 20 cents.
