what is a reasonable price for mopar maxcare lifetime warranty with $100 ductable now?

I found one guy purchased it at 1885 last year.

Do I have to follow the maintenance schedule at dealer to keep the warranty? May I do the maintenance myself or at third-party store?

There are a number of online dealer sources for the MaxCare Extended Service Contract (it's not a "warranty") that you can use to solicit competitive pricing from your dealer. If they agree to provide a price you are comfortable with, you can buy from your dealer, but you are not required to buy from them. If the deal is better elsewhere, buy from any authorized dealer. I bought mine from Ziegler online. At that time, the price was $2180 for the $100 deductible lifetime contract. It's slightly higher now due to price increases.

Got mine from Clay@Zeller for 2315 lifetime and 285 for tire/wheel protection (no tax).

Dealer started at like 3600 for lifetime and after I told him the price range I was looking for, he said his dealer cost is like 2600 and that's the lowest he could offer it.

Just curious for those of you who did buy the extended warranty/service plan, when did you buy it? My GC is only 3mo old and I'm wondering if I should stick with the 3/36 for a year or two vs getting this now since prices could go up.

The dealer swapped out a busted cargo bucket under warranty and it's little things like that I don't want to lose.

TIA

You won't lose anything by buying the maxcare. you will still have your factory 3/36 bumper to bumper with no deductible and the powertrain, the maxcare picks up the mechanical/electrical after they are done. you can wait but the prices do go up. when I bought mine 2.5 years ago the Ziegler web price was $2165 now the Ziegler web price is 2515 for the same thing so it went up $350 in 2.5 years

Agree, the Chrysler Service Contract is the only one to buy. However there are two to conside: the MAXCARE for those who can't change a lightbulb. and the ADDED CARE PLUS for those who can. Compare the coverages for both before deciding but for $100 deductable and several hundred less initially I can change a lot of bulbs.

That said be careful if you are in a state (like Florida) that requires transferability and buy from a dealer in a state that doesn't. Chrysler is saying "abandon all hope" but the state Department of Insurance says otherwise. Will only come up if you sell the car though.

ps had one rep say Florida sets rates. Not true, Florida used to require sellers of service contracts to post their rates but hasn't this decade. If their lips are moving...

^^^correct, mileage and date of first titled owner is in-service date from which the mile/yr clocks start....e.g., a dealer demo (never titled to end user) that is say a 14 leftover with 8k on it purchased today...all factory warranties and MVP extended plans start at 8k (meaning 8k=0) and today....

The price will be dependent on current mileage, age and factory warranty status. I bought mine while still under factory 3/36 and it was a good price IMO. Chrysler-warranty-online.com. It was around $1800 two years ago.
You do not have to have dealer service but I highly recommend following the schedule for your type of use (A/B) and keeping documentation.

I purchased the MAXCare back in July. Went in for some service and all was well, except that with MAXCare, you are required to get oil changes every 5K miles and not every 10K miles. For me this is no biggie, as I believe 10K on dino oil is way to long, and was doing oil changes ever 5K anyway. The window sticker says next service MAX Care and its only 5K miles whereas the service before I purchased Maxcare was 10K interval.

The maintenance schedule for your MY14 is {10K miles/1 year/dash indicator tells you}, whichever comes first, for oil changes unless you are doing the "hard duty" "B" schedule, such as if you are running a taxi service, etc. Very often, dealers like to confuse things with their own "recommendations" which are more about bringing in profits.

I picked up max life for my 2016 srt for $2900; $100 deductible. They wanted $3250. 10 miles on vehicle. Test the quotes, price goes up quite a bit with years and miles. I hope to keep mine so lowest cost is day one. They obviously get the time value of money while they hold my cash for the 3 yr factory warranty, but the sell price is like double if I were to wait and purchase then.

u also get the free rentals for service, hopefully little of it, from day one with the Max Care...some r lucky to have dealers with free loaners if u bought vehicle there....again, not a benefit you really want to have use but it's there.

Can anyone who has used their plan confirm that the deductible is applied to each visit in which you have something fixed, not to each repair? For example, if I have an exhaust problem, an electrical problem and a brake problem, that would be just one $100 deductible not three if I had them all addressed in the same trip.

Thanks!

Correct it is per visit not per issue. Which is good however when your vehicle gets older be careful not to come in with a list 10 expensive things wrong where the value of all those repairs exceeds the value of the vehicle. In that case they would cut you a check for the value of the vehicle and you would not have a service contract going forward.

I'm a new member and new 2015 GC Limited owner. I can't thank everyone enough for the max care information I was made aware of through this forum. When I bought my GC two weeks ago I barely knew max care existed. I only knew enough to ask for it. Dealer wanted $3,400 which I agreed to.

Several days after vehicle and warranty purchase I spent time in this forum and realized I could do better. I requested internet dealer quote and was offered same lifetime policy for $2,550 with $200 deductible. I contacted dealer and requested price match or cancellation. After some back and forth they countered with $2,850 / $100 deductible. I agreed to that as I value relationships and service. I also got a great deal on the jeep so a few bucks more wasn't too hard to accept. Just my two cents.

I just took my limited with Lux home today and I also ended up purchasing from the dealer. Ziegler was at $2,500 but the lowest I could get the dealer to was 2,800. I agreed simply because it allowed me to roll it into my loan rather than having to buy it outright separately. They first tried to sell me another companies contract but I insisted on the Mopar lifetime.

Hello all, new to the forum. My wife and I just bought a 2016 Summit about 2 weeks ago and are absolutely loving it so far. We normally keep cars until the warranty runs out or we outgrow it (amazingly car seats do not fit in every SUV, regardless of exterior dimensions). What scares me about the JGC is all the electronics that are there to fail. I read through a sample MaxCare service contract and I did not see any references to the blind spot monitoring, ACC, or other safety electronics being covered. Has anybody had any experience with getting repairs covered for any of the non-standard electronics?

I'd like to think that we would keep this car for 150k+ miles if we knew that the warranty would cover any failures not caused by us.

This is one of the beautiful things about the MaxCare service contract...it's fully inclusive of everything not specifically called out as exempted. That makes for less legal language and an easier to understand contract. The fact that it's available not just for specified time/miles and can be for "lifetime" (as defined in the contract) also makes it a rare opportunity, especially for folks who keep vehicles for a long time or like me, put on many more miles that the average driver. (Lifetime isn't available on the EcoDiesel, but there is a long-term version that gets it out pretty far anyway)
