Re: Extra Force to Shut Driver's Door?

Strange discussion going on here. I noticed this with mine, so I went out and tried closing the door with another door opened. It seemed to me it closed easier than with everything closed up tight. That leads me to believe air pressure has something to do with it. I had a similar experience with my Buick Enclave. It also had the double door seals, and I would have to close the doors with a little more force than I was used to doing. If it seems like a problem, I would suggest you take it to your dealer and asked to have your doors adjusted. I'm not going to bother, as it seems to be just air pressure to me.

How did you determine the other Jeep was built right behind yours? Jeep doesn't build in strict vin order.

Hahaha

I haven't noticed this so far, but it's one of the first things my wife mentioned (it's her daily driver).

Re: Extra Force to Shut Driver's Door?

Mine isn't necessarily hard to close, but does seem to be airtight and pushes the door back a little right before it closes. My Wrangler (as well as just about every single one built) have doors that are known to be harder to close as well.. but I think thats because they weigh nothing compared to normal vehicles... anyway, it doesn't bother me as long as the electronics shut down if I don't catch it.

Re: Extra Force to Shut Driver's Door?

interesting. I found myself needing to close the dealer summit I was playing with 3 times before it closed. Just thought it was a "new" door.

Yes, you are most likely correct kennzz05. I know that the minivans which I help to assemble have two such oneway flapper vents at floorpan level by the "D" pillars to allow for interior air to escape when closing a door. I would assume that the jeeps also have such a feature. My old 98 minivan still needed a drivers side door adjustment from the dealer even though he said everything seemed normal to him. I knew better after working on hundreds every day.

Re: Extra Force to Shut Driver's Door?

I will say that the doors on my 2014 Summit close much easier than on my previous 2012 Overland.

Re: Extra Force to Shut Driver's Door?

I am facing this in my 14 limited as well... I have to really slam it hard for the door to close... and I dont think its the air pressure... I am able to close the remaining 3 doors easily with half the force when other doors are not opened. I think its an alignment issue. I was checking how the door frames aligned and I feel that the driver door is not in line with the passenger door. I reported this to the dealer when i took it in on wednesday... after an entire day, he lubed it and returned it back saying he fixed it... I take the keys from him, get in and close the door... guess what... he dint do a thing... I went back and told him that he should atleast check once to make sure what he does, really fixes the issue... I have an appt on Monday again... but worried that the dealer might screw up something n cause a air leak or rattle.

Re: Extra Force to Shut Driver's Door?

I too have this issue, I bought a 2012 last summer and the doors closed perfectly and effortless then traded it in for my 2013 X and both front doors feel/sound a bit different. It takes more effort to close em..
