Re: Extra Force to Shut Driver's Door?

Of course it has to be the drivers door, and all of the others function flawlessly. If it was the right rear door, I wouldn't care. I was looking at the door gaps yesterday while feeding the beast some dinosaur juice and the "chrome" trim on the top of the driver's door is definitely about 1/16"-3/32" further in than the trim on the back door, but the body panels further down seem to be aligned right. Oh well, at least my liftgate is aligned correctly.

Re: Extra Force to Shut Driver's Door?

Never had this issue, are you guys just being too gentle or afraid of damaging something and not giving it a firm slam?

Re: Extra Force to Shut Driver's Door?

Usually it's air pressure.

You can really see it in action if you have two people try and close doors at once.

...someone will lose.

It could be door misalignment, but I doubt it, generally just the air tight seal and air pressure making a fool out of ya. You can try closing the door slowly, only "slamming" the last inch or so. See if it still gives ya fits.

Re: Extra Force to Shut Driver's Door?

I didnt need to do that in the 12. It was quite smooth and made a great seal. The 13 just feels a bit harder.

Re: Extra Force to Shut Driver's Door?

Yup, our old 2011 driver door was much easier to close. The 2014 requires a bit of extra force, noticed this since day one.

Just got mine today, noticed it with all the doors, if the other doors are closed, if another is open, or the sunroof is open, they close easier, so it seems to be air pressure for me.

Yep, same test for me and same results. My 2013 JK Unlimited was 100 times worse. I can't remember a single time I took the family in it for a ride where one of our doors was not completely shut, so this isn't bad at all... guess its what you are used to. It does have one of the nicest thunk sounds of any door i have had on a car I owned though... which is nice.

Sprayed my front 2 doors with wd40. The interior door catch. Doors are closing a lot easier.
