Re: Extremely Pissed. Traction/stability control in snow.

i specifically stated: "I got my 15 limited right before winter time. Was really looking forward to playing in the snow. My quattro A4 is lots of fun but its a tuner (lowered, etc)"

learn to read canistel, and who would wanna drift a jeep on a pavement? derp?

but anyways, jokers ^ aside, i did more research and it looks like unless you pull 3 (it seems) fuses, u cant fully disable traction control.. B U M M E R. Ill try the wheel play thing and fuse thing if that doesnt work. Appreciate the input from most of you guys

also, yes, you can throw the car left and ride to an extent... but it still tries to stabilize itself, in the most annoying way possible... thumbs down for jeep :[ SRT8 is the only wk2 that CAN fully defeat ESP, but.. $$$ :x

Re: Extremely Pissed. Traction/stability control in snow.

I could have been following the OP's twin on my way to work this morning.

This guy in a some sort of cute-ute was absolutely thrashing the gas away from every light as his car fishtailed into both adjacent lanes. I imagine he was yelling at his poor car the entire time because the traction control was making him a terrible driver and/or ruining his sick powerslides.

I wonder if there's anyone on the audi forums complaining the tow rating on their new RS8?

Extremely Pissed. Traction/stability control in snow.

As said above I can get my JGC Hemi to do whatever I want in the snow. Sand mode is like snow mode without the nanny overlord. Great fun. Can swing the tail as wide as I want or bring it right around.

Unless they upped the level of intervention of the ESC between the 14's and 15's you just need to play with it more. One stab of the Hemi go peddle and she'll step out or right around in sand mode and sport mode.

Dude, it's not me that needs to learn to read; the point of my comment was that you had (have) unrealistic expectations of what the GC is, and who the target audience is; hence the reference to your audi-type toys.

does yours make screeching noise? i wonder if they did up the intervention... im shocked this isnt known issue... only found 10 threads on this on internet and none of them shed any light on the issue.. Why put ESC off button if it doesnt work... well, partially..

i just want esc off button to turn esc off..... whats so unrealistic about that?
i can do it in every vehicle, but not in GC... whos the targeted audience? 50+? Its a jeep, jeeps are supposed to be fun. Its my mistake i didnt make enough research before purchase, but how was i supposed to know.. my 04 GC didnt have this issue. And traction off button actually worked.

Extremely Pissed. Traction/stability control in snow.

You will hear the stability control intervene in snow mode if you try and step it out too far but it doesn't screech at all. I'm wondering if your Jeep has any issues that are causing your dissatisfaction and the screeching noise. When my ESC kicks in there is barely any audible noise. Just a power cut and yaw adjustment courtesy of the brakes. I get noise, brake chatter, when in auto and climbing a rocky hill and the Jeep adjusts power to put it down with the tire with most traction.

But as said before Sand Mode lets my play in the snow like a hoon. 50/50 split but let's you spin and slid at will in snow. Sport with the ESC off lets me pull donuts at will in the snow.

yeah i tried sand and sport.. sport actually works better for me, but i havent broke in the engine yet, so im trying to keep my rpms under 3-3.5k... sport mode works ok but holds it in gear for too long.. When i go over 5000km and get first oil change, then ill try to be more agressive with it

but so far im much happier with the car when i dont try to do things like accelerate through the turn sideways, because it doesnt unless i punch the gas pedal down... instead i get khhhkhkhkhkkhhhhhh and car is straight again

maybe ill just act like grandpa and drive as if i have 2 grandchildren in the back... i just love gettin me wheels full of snow

Because 'ESC Partially Off' wouldn't fit on the button
