Thumbs down Extremely Pissed. Traction/stability control in snow.

I got my 15 limited right before winter time. Was really looking forward to playing in the snow. My quattro A4 is lots of fun but its a tuner (lowered, etc)

Get in Jeep. Push ESP off and hold. NOTHING.

Doesnt matter what i do, which option i pick (snow, mud, sand), i cant turn this stupid ****ing stability control off. Not even in sports mode!

I cand slide, drift, anything. It sounds like shit, and its braking and ruins all the fun for me.

WHAT CAN I DO???? pleasr help me turn this off. I will sell my car in 2 years when my lease is over if i cant. I wouldve NEVER bought this car (and i absolutely loved it till now), if i knew i couldnt turn off traction/stability control. NEVER!

Im so dissapointed in Jeep its not even funny. Used to own 04 grand cherokee and it let me do anything i want. What is this shit????!

Please if anyone knows how to completely disable this retarded option, let me know. Im willing to pull fuses and ignore the christmas lights on my dash. I cant stand this screeching noise my car makes when i wanna slide a little.

To pull the ABS fuses would be my first suggestion. It's going to be a Christmas Tree of warning lights whatever you do...

Cheers,
Steve

Re: Extremely Pissed. Traction/stability control in snow.

I put it in sand mode and drift all over the place. Snow mode is meant to keep the vehicle in line so high stability control intervention.

You could read the owners manual, thoroughly explaines how ESP works.

I hear you on your complaint.

About you buying a new car in 2 years.
You better hurry!.

ESP. is going to be mandatory on all cars in Europe.
I'm sure it's not long til north America has the same mandate.

i know how it works....

im trying to make it NOT work, i want to disable it completely, like u can do in 90% of vehicles out there by holding ESP button for 5 seconds... I didnt find anything in the manual explaining how to fully disable this soccer-mom-helper system.

Re: Extremely Pissed. Traction/stability control in snow.

IIRC Sand and Mud modes partially disable it. But that's all you can do.

The reason it can be disabled in my '07 WK is NOT so that I can go slipping and sliding around; it is for off-road situations where ESC/ETC can cause problems. The Selec-Terrain modes are supposed to have that covered (I don't know, I am not a serious off-roader)

Can't be done by pushing any buttons, I think that ended with the 2011MY. There are threads discussing this going back to 2010.

Or you could do the wheel dance procedure which is supposed to disable it, but I don't think you would be happy with that or if it would work on your year.

I think it can still be done on the SRT in track mode, so you have that option in 2 years or sooner. For myself, I have no need or desire to turn it off; if I want to play I use another vehicle

Re: Extremely Pissed. Traction/stability control in snow.

I can do nice drifts and donuts in sand mode and even more crazy donuts in Sport mode with ESC off. All in the snow that is. Doing it on pavement in a 5000+lb SUV is just asking for Darwin to whoop your ass.

Yup; What the OP really wants is an audi s4, he just ended up buying the wrong vehicle and is now upset that an SUV designed for SUV use isn't going to work the same as a sports car designed for sports car use.

OP Logic: "I'm extremely pissed! This audi s4 I bought can't tow my 5000 lb boat!! Every suv I ever bought in the past could tow my boat, why can't my audi tow my boat?? "
