Re: Facination with chrome on the WK2

Hi All, I am not a big fan of a lot of chrome either a little is ok, so when I saw the pictures of the 14 summit I was upset with all the chrome in the pictures and the wheels looked like a pimp mobile. Almost decided to drop the idea of getting a summit so I went to the auto show and looked at it in person and that made a difference to me. The wheels are not the bright chrome they look like in the pictures but a more brushed aluminum shine look. The rest of the exterior still has too much chrome in my opinion don’t get me wrong but it looks much better in person then those pictures. It just doesn’t jump out at you as much in person as it does in the pictures.

I am in my 40s so kind of between the dechrome and chrome generations I guess LOL. Anyway I agree It does come down to a personal preference. So just my opinion but the chrome looked tolerable enough in person that I am back to buying a summit. So guess what I am saying is let the real life view be the judge not the picture.<O</O

But, but, the pictures of models always look better than what those same models look like in real life.

Re: Facination with chrome on the WK2

I just got a mineral gray 2012 Overland and I definitely plan on swapping out the grille and rear brow for the trailhawk edition ones eventually. I think it should match the color pretty well. Way too much chrome comes stock. Guess that's why it's the Overland. I got it for the interior, etc though. I can't imagine what I would do if I got one of the '11 forest greens...

It's personal and everyone's taste is subjective. Balance is what each consisders "balance." Yes, older folks probabaly like more chrome while the younger crowd likes the monochromatic appearance. Howver, the monochromatic looks is pretty 1980s too----the de-badged all black/red/grey AMG Benz and BMWs, remember?

I think the Overland and Summit look better with a bit more flash---they are supposed to be more elegant and luxurious as opposed to Altitude or Trailhawk or Laredo X that are supposedl to be more outdoorsy and sporty.

Yes, a little bling goes a long way and too much turns an elegant vehicle into a ghetto blaster.
