Facination with chrome on the WK2

Ive always wondered what attracts people to vehicles that have alot of chrome on the exterior. Personally, I am not a fan of too much chrome. I have a wrangler and all the accents that it has are black. But that is just my personal preference.

One of the things I like about the 2014 WK2 is that they eliminated that chrome grille. However I think the chrome accents in the Summit are way over the top. IMO they just repositioned the chrome from the grille.

So just out of curiosity why do you like/dont like chrome on the exterior of your vehicle? Why does your vehicle need to have so much chrome?

Re: Facination with chrome on the WK2

The (acceptable) amount of chrome for me always depends on the entire picture. I actualy prefer the distribution of the chrome on the MY14 Summit over the one found on the MY13 Summit.

The exterior color is also important. If a car has lots of chrome and you're not the greatest fan of it, you have to select a color that softens the effect - like the granite or white. If you go with black or red, you intensify the effect.

Is there a chrome delete option for the Summit? WAY too much chrome.

I think the MY14 overland has just the right amount of chrome for me and with the granite color that i plan on getting it should look fine. But you are right, the color does have a lot to do on how much it stands out. The chrome on the cherry red summit they used for the release stood out way too much.

My jet only has chrome trim around the windows and the name badges for 4 x 4 and grand cherokee everything else is black. I didn't like the chrome at first but it has grown on me now.

I know right! Guess thats why they have the de-chromed overland for those of us that dont like too much of it. But a chrome delete or the option to add dark chrome instead of the bright one would be really nice.

Summit options with the Overland look would be my preference.

When new I hated all the chrome on my overland but now after seeing people cover it up and subdue it I actually prefer it the way it is. It looks kinda plain without the bling.

Very subjective thing...personal preference. Many like the look; many do not.

Re: Facination with chrome on the WK2

JGC Forever.... your truck is super clean and very nicely done. I love the way it looks but yours is a complete make over. It's practically a different special edition model!

The stock overland falls right in line with other high end SUVs like the Q7. Similar flash that really does grab attention due to its classy look. Your Jeep looks more sporty than classy. I think it represents the jeep heritage more than what the JGC has somewhat aged into and that is a high end luxury vehicle that quite honestly might never need "rock" mode LOL!

Re: Facination with chrome on the WK2

I actually prefer the pre-2014 chrome grill over the 2014's chrome rings.
