dealers will use the black book, and it's also dependent on your market area. iow it will be hard for anybody on here to tell you that unless their near your locale.

Go plug your location and vehicle info into KBB.com.

That will give you an idea of how bad of a beating you'll take.

Re: Fair trade in value?

Thanks for your replies. What do yall feel is the ideal wait time to trade in to not lose money?

And i recently went on a camping trip for over a week. Trying to fit everything needed was such a pain, of course this is coming from someone who has had full size trucks there whole life, just throw in bed and go. BTW i have 2 little ones in car seats so rear cargo area is all i had. I have a hitch cargo carrier as well which helped but loading and strapping stuff down on there wasnt ideal.

no such thing as a wait time and not loose money on a trade in. If you buy it and then want to trade in back in within a few months you will lose money. I used my zipcode with your options listed and got $32,850 trade

It would be cheaper to buy an enclosed cargo trailer

Re: Fair trade in value?

I use KBB, Edmunds, and NADA. Average their price, and go from there. Edmunds seems to be the lowest of the bunch. Lately, I've been gettting around KBB trade-in value -- which I have been happy for.

Re: Fair trade in value?

Sell it on your own. I always get way more than trade. At least on older vehicles.

Re: Fair trade in value?

Just a comment but the value of accessories and options plus upscale models goes to almost nil when you leave the dealer's lot.

OTOH if you pick a low line of an upscale model that already has almost everything you want then not so.

I looked first at used '11s but it turned out that I could buy (with incentives then available & negotiation) a new '12 with 15 miles on it for not much more and it appears to be salable (not high retail) for about $3k less than I paid for it. $1k/year depreciation is not bad. Only option I cared about was the towing package but having the Uconnect & "E" is nice. Did need to add a tablet and backup camera but minor stuff.

Expenses have been limited to gas (at about 20 mpg average on 87 PON) and six oil changes, four of which were free. I check about monthly for misfires.

I do have a lifetime warrenty which, in Florida, can be transferred to a new owner & may add a few pfennig.

That said it is the best tow car I have ever owned & only reason I might consider trading would be if the diesel were available in the Laredo (you can get it in a black bumper Ram pickup for about $33k so why not in the Laredo ? Market hasn't slowed enough I guess.)
