Thanks. Good to know. This proves that even Jeep thought of what my concern was to begin with. Of course, some people here will argue to death for the sake of arguing.

Nobody here was arguing for the sake of arguing. It's a fact, if you damaged the FCW sensor off-roading, you would have already ripped off your whole front end. You're being arrogant about it.

Take it personally if you wish. It wasn't intended to you, but then interesting to see why it bothered you. Your posts on this thread has been of no value. How many damaged FCW you have encountered to say that it is ONLY possible if the front end is ripped? Where is the data behind your "fact"?

I have not read the manual but if a fellow forum member here says that Jeep provided the option in the manual to remove radar ball before serious off-roading that means it is easier to damage it without "ripping" off the front. Otherwise, why will they make removal by end-user as an option?

What would ever lead you believe that it's "easier to damage it without "ripping" off the front?"

I have to agree with Overlanding. This is not rocket science.

I'd have a tough time envisioning an off road incident that would damage the sensor and not also damage the lower fascia if left on. That should be pretty obvious just by looking at it and shouldn't require any "fact" as proof.

Yes, the manual has instructions on how to remove the sensor. That is in conjunction with removing the lower fascia. Common sense would dictate doing so if your off roading is serious enough to warrant removal of the lower fascia to prevent damage. Once the lower fascia is off that sensor is now really exposed. Not that all that lower fascia plastic would protect it if you smacked a rock, hit a tree or bottomed it out.

So basically, we all are assuming. You have no facts or experience with the radar ball being damaged either, but for some reason you believe that you understand it better.

You can stick with your beliefs and I will stick with mine.

Based on your posts, I think I understand it better than you do. But continue away with your assumptions and beliefs, I won't lose any sleep over it.

Re: FCW+Brake saved me today

Odds are you will cause mis alignment of the system before you do any major damage unless you hit it head on. Having the system set again is not cheap , I just had mine done , due to being rear ended and the cost was 450 canadian. A good bump could do it as it has 3 or 4 little bolts holding the sensor on the front end.
