From the manual downloaded online (not personal experience):

"If the liftgate handle is pulled while the power liftgate
is opening, the liftgate motor will disengage to allow
manual operation."

Only if the fob stays in the Jeep. If its in your pocket and you walk away it shuts off.

My friend and I tried this a few weeks ago during a test drive. I stood in the parking lot with the Key FOB and he drove WAY down the street without any issue ... other than it showed in the EVIC that the key was not present in the car. Other than that, he could have probably driven 'til there wasn't any more gas; as long as he didn't shut it off.

Re: Features

The key fob system is tops for me followed the numerous power outlets and the ipod interface for the 730. Eliminates all those stupid adapters strung all over the car.

Re: Features

With my current car I have left the FOB at the car wash, drove ten miles away, realized and had to go back. Be careful with that my friends, easily can happen. You go to car wash, give them the fob, and drive off not needing the fob since car is already started.

Re: Features

If that is the case, then could I have it (start button) disconnected for the safety sake? I'm sure it's doable.

Any auto burglar, for sample, could steal it real easy if the fob key is not needed by simply breaking the driver window then click it and poof gone.

I do not mean fear-monger but think it ought to have it solved.

Any thoughts?

This is incorrect. The key fob is NEEDED to start the car, once it is started however, the key fob is not needed. A burglar could never start your car by pushing the Start button without the key fob in the car.

Re: Features

The fob is needed to start the vehicle, either by remote start or within the Jeep. They are just talking about if the vehicle is started, and then the fob is not within the vehicle.

Re: Features

Is this guy serious? I answered that in post 12. Anyways you can remove the button and use the FOB as a key, if that makes you feel better.
