Yup, and still a member. I really enjoy that group, found great people, loved the meet-ups, even helped organize the last one. I will attend a small group in May with a 325CiC (still hanging on a thread with BMW's...)

Nice X5. Plus, interesting about that one, it appears to be M-Sport edition xDrive35i with X5M wheels....very nice selection.

My dealer is in 'Cockeysville,' but I live in NY. Taking the Amtrak on Sat morning and driving it back Sunday night. By the time the JGC gets to Baltimore, and then back home in NY, I will have 600+ miles on it already! No worries though, its worth the drive....I HOPE!

Re: First came a WK, then a 4.8i X5, and now....

Is the BMW sharkfin antenna smaller than the aftermarket sharkfin antenna people here bought for the WK2? And would the BMW Sharkfin fit and work on a WK2?

Thanks

Good question....I know my sharkfin was huge. However, I'm unsure of fitment issues with the JGC and the BMW sharkfin antenna...

The VG Sharkfin is designed to go over the base Wk2 Antenna which is why it is large. I thought the same thing when it arrived; was expecting a Tiger Shark and rec'd a Great White... hehe.

Now, thats not to say you couldn't remove the entire Wk2 antenna assembly and replace it with the BMW... possibly. I guess if it is worth it to you then give it a shot.

Gotcha, Don White's... wow thats a lot of traveling - for you and your Jeep. But, if you got the deal you wanted then it is certainly worth it.

So you are taking the Amtrak to Penn Station and then either a cab or the Light Rail to Cockeysville. I did that a few times when I lived in Baltimore City. Had to get up to the Infinit and/or Land Rover dealership. The Light Rail is terrible but a cab is way expensive.

Not sure if you have ever been to B'more or what your knowledge level is but if you have any other questions, PM me and i'll help ya out.

I did...see my post in the "Prices Paid." Very satisfied, my brother will end up buying a new JGC from them, as well as my father for a 300C. I got a little concerned with their follow up, but once I got through that hurdle, it was very smooth.

Yeah, gonna Amtrak it down there....NO Acela on Sat, Northeast Stop-every-two-seconds joy all the way there. The salesgirl is gonna pick me up, as I demanded a Non-Fat Gingerbread Latte from Starbucks too on delivery . Not a huge Baltimore fan, typically spending most of my travel time down there in Rockville and Metro DC.

...you read my mind....

I'm thinking about going retro JGC Limited to the days of full body color on the grill, wheel wells and lower body cladding.

Re: First came a WK, then a 4.8i X5, and now....

Well....the JGC is now in my possession. I took the Amtrak train to Baltimore on Saturday, got picked up by a lovely saleswoman, and delivered directly to my Jeep.

Don White's, while not the largest or fanciest dealership I have done business with, they certainly were very stand-up people, no games, no extra fees, etc. What I discussed was given. They did a great job.

Their detail shop wasn't so good, but nobody is perfect. There are some imperfections that went unnoticed during my walk-around, and their own detailed inspection. Had they been my local dealer, and I wasn't traveling, they would have fixed the items. We'll see how they handle it seeing that I'm in NY. The items were:

During my initial inspection:
1. Plastic piece inside pass door handle was missing - tint man forgot to reassemble. FIXED.
2. Small superficial scratch on rear driver door. FIXED.

While I drove away, on 95 south towards DC, I noticed:
1. A HUGE hand print & smear on the pass side headliner (either tint man or shop mechanic while repairing plastic piece.)
2. Big scratch on bottom pass window chrome (tint man.)
3. Scratch (fingernail gets caught) between chrome strip mentioned above and door handle (should be able to get rid off...)
4. Cracked Hill Decent Control button from edge through orange indicator light.

Hopefully, they will help me out via local dealer, or....something...

See one pic below. She's completely different from my old X5 and I need to get used to it. Some first impressions on a 500 mile journey...

1. Quiet. But certainly not as quiet as everyone had been touting. The FX is my opinion is quieter and the X5 was as quiet. The HEMI does scream (or the vehicle as a whole) from the outside. Inside, it certainly does make some noise.
2. Bwoody links will be needed. Even with the 20" wheels and low profile tires, its not as tight as the X5, or even the FX. I suspect the links and maybe a suspension tweak might do the trick.
3. Power is good. Not great, but good. The tranny is eating up the passing power and off-the-line performance I'm used to. You really have to stomp on the gas to get it to move quickly.
3a. If I choose SPORT, it should stay in SPORT. This is a pain (plus, get rid of the TC light!)
4. ECO mode does make a faint drone in the cabin, and I'm concerned replacing the muffler with dual magnaflow's will only exacerbate the noise even further.
5. Extremely pleasing to look at in the sunlight. Great lines, great stance. Great height off the ground (really gives me a similar view outbound as the Suburban/Tahoe's do.)
6. Seating is poor. No bolster's on the bottom cushion, and not very comfortable. Back support and lateral support is good. They could have softened the bottom cushion a little more.
7. Is it me, or does anyone else notice that based on many positions, both seating and steering wheel adjustment, I CANNOT see the speedometer! I have to use the EVIC screen.
8. Back seat is great! Much better than my old WK, and a little better than the X5. Very comfortable including the reclining function.
9. Controls are in good placement. My only tidbit of criticism here would be the shifter gate is too big, vertically. By the time it goes from P to D, I feel as if the shifter is now in the back seat. Certainly will not allow me to control the JGC via the manual mode (its too uncomfortable pushing my elbow way back on the armrest.
10. If I leave the headlights on Auto, if I push the fog light button, all the lights and fog's should come on. Now I have to always turn my headlights and fogs on AND off. Just so everyone doesn't look at me strange, I always drive with headlights on.
11. The rear wiper module on the inside of the rear lift gate is GIGANTIC.
12. The green lighting is obnoxious. Plus, the center console at night looks like the Vegas strip or AC at night. The cup holder is hilarious!

I could go on and on....but will stop here til I can think of more intelligent things to offer everyone.

Re: First came a WK, then a 4.8i X5, and now....

Sorry to ask a silly question as I am torn between the FX and JGC (X5 is out of my price range), do you like your Jeep? Would you get the FX instead? I do most of my driving in NYC.

(haha I think you already answered my question in the other thread, sorry I am a retard when it comes to forums )
